Regarding the Spanish civil war, it will be developed somewhat or will require any dedicated DLC? will you be able to save Primo de Rivera and make him the head of state instead franco? will you be able to end the war as the nationalists and instate a democracy long away from comunism instead forcing a dictatorship?

I would like to see a developer diary about spain and the civil war but i guess that wont happen because there are a lot of things more important. I would like to see what resources spain have, if it have a proper national focus tree, etc.

What do you think about the civil war and how will impact HOI 4 games? will spark a world war way before 1939? it will be ignored by everyone?

You really should read the development diaries and watch the world war wednesday videos, in which your questions are all answered.
They even have a dedicated dev diary about civil wars.

https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...velopment-diary-20th-of-november-2015.891939/

Short answers:

Historical Civil Wars are developed and in the case of the chinese one even have some unique mechanics in place.

You can choose which side you support when a civil war starts in your country

Spain is a minor nation, so they dont have unique focus trees or tech trees, but rather generic ones.

Civil Wars are a great mechanic for the game. They not only let you change the ideology of other countries but also gives most nation a chance, just as in the spanish civil war, to influence the outcome with equipment and even troops (inofficial of course) and this way gain experience for both the units but also to modify equipment.

Civil wars mechanics was described in the Developer diary #34. There's also a very short mention of the Spanish Civil War.

We can imagine that as all conflicts it will raise the world tension, but it will not spark a world war alone.

In the case of historical civil wars that happen more or less on schedule, such as the one in Spain, the division [of regions for each side] is not arbitraty, but based on the historical circumstances. However, war will play out in a similar manner, and just as foreign support and volunteers played an important role in the Spanish Civil War, countries can try to intervene and support the side that they want to seize power in the country.

One thing with the Spanish Civil war in the game is that wasnt it somewhat short when the devs were playing during WWW? Id hate to have the war break out and steamroll the enemy within a year. I mean its good if you can defeat the enemy quickly but whats the fun of the war then if it lasts a couple months.

Actually in the latest WWW where they play Hungary, the Spanish Civil war began in 1936 (which it historically did) and it's still going all the way into 1938 (when it historically ended in '39). Last we saw, the war was still pretty even, so I bet you it will go into 1939.

I would like at least a custom political tree in spain, the situation could vary extremely hard from one side to the other regardless who won. For example if primo de Rivera survived the war, Franco wouldn't end in power and we would end with a democracy, just a right wing one. Then if the Republicans win there are huge chances of starting a new separatist war between anarchists, communists and Democrats, etc etc

Those were really unstable times for Spain and I would like to at least be able to play nationalist Spain without Franco or any of the ruthless genocidal generals or a Democrat party with a monarchy instaured even instead communists or anarchists republic

What makes you think Franco would give up power to Primo de Rivera once he had it ?

He was very ambitious and though pretending to be a monarchist he was an ruthless autocrat. The monarchy was reinstated only after his death.

If primo the rivera was still alive he would have 0 power and considering that primo de rivera didnt want him anywhere near the goverment and expressed this very clearly several times in several letters its more than enough for me to think that.

The falange wasnt a fascist rotten powerhouse until primo de rivera died and franco took over. Actually, primo de rivera wanted to accept the republic and to form a goverment with moderated republicans, with no one in the military there.

This was not a revolution led by the right ou the falange, this was mainly a military coup d'État and as such the generals had de facto the power, not the politicians. If Sanjurjo had not died he would have led the military rebellion.

I do agree Primo de Rivera was a major figure of the right/far right, but nothing guarantee that he would have not been sidelined by the military and become something like prime minister but not the chief of state (real leader).

I think this belongs to the history sub forum as the OP was about he mechanics of the SCW.

As @Nicolas I said, if we consider Primo de Rivera a lá Trotsky, then why not Sanjurjo or Mola? If such detail is applied to the SCW, it must be done in a huge scope, because of the utter complexity and the unlikely outcomes such as Franco taking power. The Republican side would require a lot of effort too, since it's even more complex.

As much as I would love to see such expansion, because of the gameplay possibilities and because of the consequences for the beginning of ww2, I don't expect it to happen.
