Hi,

I recently played a Spanish civil war game which I was planning to play all the way through.

My understanding was when the civil war ended all the nationalist units left in the game would change sides and I could start planning for the Germans a few years down the road,

However, when I took the last last nationalist vp they just all vaporised and I was left with my rather small republican army ...

Anyone have any idea what went wrong? Have I got the wrong end of the stick? Does this have anything to do with the fact that at this stage I had zero manpower.

I was playing on HOI3:Their finest hour. Not the then new scenario though...

thanks

PaulE

They don't switch back, which makes sense when you think about it, and historicaly it does as well. The nationalists expelled alot of Republican supporters IIRC after they won.

So, this is working as designed.

In Hearts of Iron 2, they would go to the victor. Maybe thats where the confusion is?

Yeah I can certainly sympathize if it is HOI2 Throwback Syndrome. But I agree that disbanding of the losing side's forces is more historic for civil wars in general and the SCW in particular. Just play through, PaulE; you did everything right it appears.

They reverted to Republican control in early versions of HoI3, but at least since FTM they just die.
