I wanted to get the subject of something to figured out :

Space expantion does not need to be planetary

Spaces stations for living only + few factory colony (requiring few "operator" are needed with armies of robots) attach with space elevators only are needed in case of population expantions the same space stations seems much more cost efficient...

concidering atmospheric+environemental problems why should we live on a hostile planets on space station condition of living BUT with the environnement problems ?

Since the tech tree is going to have some degree of randomness to it, it would be cool to see some games where you get the ability to terraform and colonize planets and other games where instead you get the ability to build large space stations complete with natural habitats similar to the picture above.

There are ringworlds, so here's hoping you can make them manually :D
Maybe this is a stupid question, but are we sure those aren't just planets with rings? Idk how that might make a difference, but maybe it would affect gravity or give some sort of tourist benefit?

Naw, there was a picture of a colony ship that said it could colonize Desert, Terran and Ring worlds. It was categorized as a separate planet type. I'll try to find it for you.

Rings are cool and probably have some sort of bonus, but they do not affect the planet's gravity significantly, as they are a very low-mass "object" distributed over a large area.

Ringworlds are the Halos from the Halo universe

My first ringworld would definitely be a single, huge shipyard. The second would then be a defense for my home system. And the third would finally be a habitat for my people. And all that, in my home system. And with time, every system would get such advancements, beginning with the core worlds. Or I could consider cutting my home system off from everything else and then I'd build even more ring worlds only in my home system. When someone rebels, the loyal ringworlds could fight against the rebel ringworlds. That would look epic! :D

Yes! And maybe the space stations that house thousands of people could look actually half decent? haha
I haven't seen these type of ring worlds implemented in any game other then Halo, it'd be neat if you could build them in Stellaris.. ;)
I think they're a great example of an artificial world in a way as well as a space station ;D

I think I've seen 'Ring world' in sci-fi also refer to a tidally locked world, habitable only in the terminus zone (the 'ring'). This could be the case here.

Does this mean we'll find abandoned ring worlds?

I hope this is a rare thing with old dead empires, and you still have the option to shell out tons of resources to build your own.

As ring worlds (like every planet) could be destroyed, I assume they can be rebuild. Or... can planets even be destroyed? If that's the case, I hope we can do it manually with better technologies.

I didn't get the whole "artificial" aspect that the rest of you guys got. What I got out of that screenshot about colonizing ringworlds were either tidally locked planets (ie where only the "ring" between light and dark could be colonized) or an actual world in the shape of a ring. According to what I've read, such a world could be viable
