the soviets fought the allies because romania joined the allies after germany invaded them romania declared war while neutral) and the soviets declared war on them.

also saw this posted online. so it seems like it isn't just my build

There could have been war between the Allies and USSR over Finland or Poland, or something else - a big problem was what such a war would actually mean and where and how it would be fought other than central Asia. Soviets saw as inevitable either such a war or the collapse of the western states without one. So it is possible.
