I suppose by "rest of the country" he means "rest of the country" ;)

Waiting for the next update... Will Mexico finally join the Proletarian revolution? Will the author again resort to a heroic effort with an on-screen keyboard? How much floating wreckage is left of the IJN?

Update nr.95

With Korea free and secured my fleets sail to the North. The island of Sakhalin is my next target.
This one is extremely close to the Japanese island of Hokkaido and a carefully placed air base could allow me
an invasion of Japan from the air.

t1in7.png

As soon as the Red Navy takes positions around the island the battle starts:

ochace6.png

But everything went down the drain as usually. Shore bombardment didn't provide enough support,
the tanks got stuck in the marshy grasslands and panic began to spread among the Red Army soldiers.
Yet again, an insignificant battle over an unimportant province revealed how weak the Red Army is.

But after 3 days of fighting a brakthrough saved me from further humiliation:

ocha2rg2.png
ocha3hb7.png

With one of my two BB fleets securing the coast, a single Red Army division lands in Kamchatka.
This is the first time, that Soviet high command performs such a stunt. And this is going to be a perfect
opportunity to train our troops for the invasion of the Japanese mainland.
It's like Dieppe for the British, but without any resistance.

kamchatkacr7.png

Japanese are cornered in Toyohara. A swift attack from the North and they are pushed to the sea.
I wonder - can horses swim?

toyoharazy3.png

And, as i predicted earlier, the numerous Red Army is defeated just few hours after their arrival in Khandyga.
Only the desire for victory [ and always vigilant NKVD ] keeps my soldiers moving.

retreateu5.jpg

And here's a map of Korea with its factories repaired and first three divisions deployed.
This turned out to be a great addition to the ever expanding comintern.

koreaqe9.jpg

The Japanese had already held out 3 years longer than IRL. I see that USA
isn't taking this war seriously, maybe they are accumulating military strenght
while their real and ideological enemies are killing each other?

If all else fails, you can always stop worrying and learn to love the bomb... I mean, c'mon, if the Red Army keeps getting humiliated in close victories like those, eventually you'll need to go nuclear or something.

To Ladislav:
The Japanese are doing well mostly due to bad terrain and superior technology.
But i completely control the situation on land, unlike in the old days, when i was fighting the Germans ;D
And, i guess, that makes them not so feared opponents.

To Darks63:
First i need to subdue the Japanese navy [ or at least locate their whereabouts ].
I know that they have some CTF's lurking somewhere and i'm afraid that they will strike me
as soon as my TP's approach heir coast.

To chefportnen:
I would love to have THE bomb, but that's almost impossible.
I have a feeling, that i will regret not researching this stuff in the future.

Update nr.96

I ship an armoured army from Sakhalin to Kamchatka. Now the Japanese are stuck
between my armour to the North and infantry to the South.

c1tm5.png

But i was naive to think, that this would stop the Japanese.
They continue their desperate march to the North and attack everything
in their way:

anadyrlf4.png

Heavily outnumbered, the Red Army was forced to retreat.
Hmm...atleast the Japanese are leaving their mountain strongholds,
where it was almost impossible to defeat them.
That's it - march to your death, you fools!

a1kt5.png
a2hs8.png

It was calm elsewhere. So calm, that Soviet high command decided to spice things up.
And what could be more spicy than another daring invasion of some Japanese islands?
Shumushushima and Etorofu were perfect targets - undefended and far from any hostile fleet hunting zones.

However safety precautions were made and my battleship captains
were ordered to keep an eye out for enemy carriers.

sevb3.png

But none came to intercept me, so i continued my naval expedition.
This little island will be a perfect place for my new Pacific naval base.
It's going to be bigger and better than Pearl Harbour!

komyp2.png

But Soviet Union is not the only country doing the island hopping. USA finally woke up and started kicking some ass.
Just in 15 [!] days they have captured Eniwetok, Midway, Wake and yes - even Guam!
Truman had realized the dangers of a commie Japan and decided to grab what he can as fast as he can.

The problem is, that if they continue to advance at such an alarming rate,
Stalin will be left with nothing but war spoils...

pacificxc8.jpg

I start gathering the invasion forces from all around the Soviet Union.
I need something powerful and technologically advanced - like my new mechanized divisions.
They are the best that Red Army can muster.

mechpz4.png

But before invading Japan i need to destroy the enemy on my own soil.
I reinforced Kamchatka with 10 more divisions and that means, that Japanese have reached
the end of the line. This time they are really screwed.

j15xh7.jpg

I wonder what were the Japanese officers thinking, when they ordered their men
to retreat to the most distant part of the Soviet Union:

hiroshieg9.jpg

And that's the news for today, thanks for reading ;]

You should check how big is the penalty for amfb landing of MECH inf, compared to normal INF. I think it's a bit higher.

Also don't attack shores with landings bigger than 6 (I think) divisions. Anything larger or smaller is not that effective (the larger the invasion is, the bigger are the penalties. That makes 10+ invasions as ineffective as 1 div, and myb even less since they will be fighting at close 1%)

To chefportnen:
In hoi2 the map is all turned and twisted, and those provinces and oceans
aren't as huge as they look. Theoretically it should be possible to go to Alaska from Chukchia,
that's how people came to North America in the first place.

beringjb6.jpg

But don't worry - Japanese aren't going anywhere ;D

To 4th Dimension:
I am aware of those penalties. My infantry and/or marines will storm the beaches,
mechanized and armour will be shiped in later to provide further support.
The last time i checked the Japanese beach defences were weak, but they have almost no
transport ships left and that means, that everything they build stays in their home islands.
Which could turn into a problem later on...

Update nr.97

In the beginning of February USA renewed their attacks and captured several more islands,
including Iwo To [ Iwo Jima ]. Furthermore, South African divisions land in Biak island and begin spreading like a virus.

pacific2zc5.jpg

Japanese are slowly losing the grip on their Pacific colonies and USA is getting closer and closer to their main islands.

deadwv0.jpg

Two months later the situation looks even more critical for the Japanese.
Saipan and Palau are seized and Canadians land in Okinawa. Now that's just crazy!
But not all is bad for Japan - notice their recovering IC.

pacific3se7.jpg

All of these islands are lost permanently. Japanese can't retake them without any transports,
although they still dominate the oceans.

transportjv0.jpg

But these small conquests were at a huge price. While reinforcing the captured islands
USA had lost a colossal number of transport ships. IJN carriers did the most of the work, and that means
that the best Japanese fleets are busy fighting the USN and ignoring the Red Navy.
Which, by the way, is a very good thing.

shipsku8.png

Meanwhile, the Red Navy is hanging close to the shores of Soviet Union.
Intercepting this or that. But, to be honest, during one month of hunting, my BB's encounter
only this single Japanese TP flotilla. It was heading to the North, that means the Japanese
were trying to evacuate their divisions from Chukchia, one at a time.

tpnl1.png

After making sure that Sea of Japan is free of enemy ships, i order my navy
to move to new hunting zones - Inland sea and Tokyo bay.

jpngm9.png

But this proves to be a mistake. Japanese don't like Red Navy,
blocking their main naval bases, one bit so they send a polite warning:

is1zt4.png

With no hope of receiving reinforcements from Tokyo bay on time,
14th USSR Fleet is ordered to retreat. And what do you know - they even
manage to sink an enemy light cruiser!

15th USSR fleet, stationed in Tokyo bay, was also attacked
by the same IJN fleet several hours later. Defeat was quick, but
both sides avoided any real casualities.

is2pz1.png

All in all, two battleships and two destroyer flotillas were damaged.
IJN suffered less damage, but they lost a ship. So in the eyes of the world
Soviet Union was victorious!
