Make glorious strong of Soviet Union if many research complete.
Hardly.First tank I'm not sure about, but the light/medium would probably be something like BT -> T-70 -> T-28 -> T-34 -> T-44 and T-54 as MBT.
But then what's your MBT? Never mind that you also have the T-34 and T-44 both showing up early as 1939 and 1941 mediums, with the T-55 showing up in 1943. Well, that or you skipped a member of the line, assuming you're using the T-55 as the MBT. Also, the light line has one too many tanks. I will give that I derped on T-70 dates, though. For some reason, I had assumed that it was an earlier design than it was.Hardly.
More probablty T-26->T-28->T-34->T-44-T-55 for mediums, and T-26-BT-2-BT-7->T-70.
The thing to keep in mind, of course, is that it will be exactly the same as anybody else's tank tech tree. Only the names are changed. They are simply flavor text.
With all the fanatics wanting to micro-manage huge aspects of the war and who are against abstracting the airwar into something more playable and realistic, I am surprised there is so much tolerance for this huge abstraction.
We just unlock the 1 model via the tech and you'll be able to upgrade the gun/engine etc via practical experience.
T-55 is the "MBT".But then what's your MBT? Never mind that you also have the T-34 and T-44 both showing up early as 1939 and 1941 mediums, with the T-55 showing up in 1943. Well, that or you skipped a member of the line, assuming you're using the T-55 as the MBT. Also, the light line has one too many tanks. I will give that I derped on T-70 dates, though. Based on DD2, the medium line is base tank -> 1934 light -> 1936 light -> 1939 medium -> 1941 medium -> 1943 medium -> 1945 MBT and the light line branches off with a 1941 light coming off of the 1936 light. The heavy line is then base tank -> 1934 heavy -> 1941 heavy -> 1943 super heavy (dead end) and 1943 heavy -> 1945 MBT.
To revise, I'd go with something like 1934 light: T-26 -> 1936 light: BT-7 (closest BT model to the tech date) -> 1939 medium: T-28 (quite a bit later than the actual introduction, but then, so is the Panzer IV) -> 1941 medium: T-34 -> 1943 medium: T-44 -> 1945 MBT: T-54/55 (doesn't really matter which)
What's not to like? You have base models representing the various comparable classes between nations, and then what makes them different is what each nation focus on for their type.
I am not saying it is bad or even that it in some way lessens the value of the game. I point it out simply because all too often on these forums people get caught up in debating some of the more intricate subleties of WWII and lose sight of just how much abstraction there is to many key aspects of the game.
I am fine with the tank or plane names being simply flavor text or with all nations' ships being essentially identical as long as the game feels right when played.
Give me a system with real air superiority that forces naval operations to respect it and I will be happy. Give me a system where Britain and Germany cannot pile up so much war material before the war that strategic warfare against mineral production or resource convoys is meaningless and I will be happier still.
Since I think I am getting both of those things, I am very excited about HOI4.
Why is everybody forgetting the T-40, T-60? Also, there was KV-2, and the like. Like T-50. Or T-100, or SMK.
Because there's a finite number of slots in the tech tree.Why is everybody forgetting the T-40, T-60? Also, there was KV-2, and the like. Like T-50. Or T-100, or SMK.
I don't know why you people are talking about slots actually.
You can easily change your GUI to fit more techs. It is very much possible that the USSR has more research possibilities then Germany.
