I'm playing the USSR and I've run into a problem - I've sent 48 divisions to my border with Manchuria and the game is routing their supply by sea, through waters full of Japanese ships and submarines.

I want to fix it so that supply comes from Moscow over-land. I would have thought that if I build enough infrastructure between Vladivostok and Moscow this will happen, but I don't want to waste time finding out from scratch if someone already knows the answer.

Does anyone know how much infrastructure and where I need to build it to make the supply route over land? As it is, the Japanese are able to sink 30+ convoys at a time, which is less than ideal.

Yes it'll work. Don't recall the exact levels I built in my last ussr game through I'm afraid.

Edit: I just built a 'road' from Moscow connecting the already highest levels in a straightish line to the border. This also helps with strat deploying from one end of the country to the other.

Cool, maybe I'll do a test starting in 1936 to work it out.

It might be worth having the resulting level of infrastructure be the starting level at game start - this whole situation smacks of being a trap for the AI and new players.

You need to fill those lvl 1 infra provinces aswell to not bottleneck, there are like 4 or 5 near Mongolia that are part of the Manchurian supply zone route.

Even trans-siberian railroad is so low on infra that supplying Vladivostok from Moscow is near-impossible. There's a billion of lvl3 infra bottlenecks so you have to build lots of infra across half the planet. All the while i constant need for MIC and CIC. In the end, I'd suggest ignore attrition and just add LOG and build more equipment via MIC that you lose. Because the alternative is literally building your infrastructure across 1/6 of Earth's landmass.

Well, what I actually ended up doing was devoting all the USSR's shipyards to convoy building and just eating a 30+ convoy loss every month or so, I was just hoping there was a more efficient and less bloody-minded way around the problem.

A quick way to fix it is to use the suppy map and see where the route stops short of reaching Vladivostok, then click to improve infrastructure in the supply region that has a red number from Moscow's side. After finishing construction, repeat the process on the next supply bottleneck until the supply route connects to Vladivostok. Takes about 10-20 infrastructure built in total this way to switch the route and after that you can keep removing the supply blocks along the route to increase supply in the east much more than you could supply with convoys.

Its not that bad, Pdx makes huge provinces so its far, far less investment than what it should be.
