I cant believe the japanese advances so far. The furthest I have seen them advance is the Persian Indian border. Those carriers look worrying but your new BB's could give them a bloody nose especially if they lack escorts. I do think a Naval Expansion is in order.

Lol, I saw them reach South Africa once. This Manchuria-South Africa crusade would be a really good AAR in TRM MOD for the qantang army.

I agree on the Naval Expansion. He will need a good fleet in the Baltic and Arctic when war with the west comes. Also some Marines to seize Iceland to be used as a base for naval bombers to interdict American fleets.

Just for curiosity which naval doctrine tree do the Russians start with? And will we see some SHBB's and Carriers?

I think the Russians start with the British doctrine, although they mgith start far enough bacl for him to choose his own path.

I too think expansion is on order, but please don't build CV's, CVL's are fine, but I hate Carriers.

Also don't waste your missles on Japan, it will make them weaker, and lessen the excitement of the battle. (I mean give the Japanese a chance, if you go against the Americans, bomb them.)

Nice update and Great Progress!

All right i am back. Sorry for the delay. My PC was attacked by a particularly nasty trojan worm virus that was beginning to take over parts of my computer. But anyway, it has been eradicated now, so time for some updates.

Stalin, growing more and more concerned about the continuing resistance of the Japanese army in Yantai, orders the Red Army to do whatever it takes to annihilate them. After Soviet troops reorganize and bring in more tanks to the area, launches its final assault on the beleagured japanese. The assault finally succeeds in forcing the Japanese to surrender.
finalbattleofyantai.png

Meanwhile, the allied steamroller continues into the middle east, as Japanese and allied troops clash over what used to be Iraq.
battleofIraq.png

The Soviet union succeeds in cutting China in half. Soviet troops then begin to march to the east, towards the coast.
intotheocean.png

As they march, they begin to reach some of China's major cities. Here, at the city of nanking, the former capital of Chiang kai Shek's government, the Japanese put up fierce resistance, despite their few numbers. Eventually, they are forced to retreat.
battleofnanking.png

Then, a huge breakthrough from the scientists at Omsk. Soviet technicians have finally found out how to create the ultimate weapon, the Atomic Bomb.
finally.png

Allied troops outflank the Japanese by landing in a now mostly empty India. Allied reinforcements are soon arriving in huge numbers to expand the bridgehead.
alliedlanding.png

The Japanese army is separated into pockets of resistance along the Chinese coast.
coastalpockets.png

Most of these pockets are easily mopped up. Where the Red Army meets real resistance is in Shanghai, where the Japanese fight the Soviet army for every street and every building in the city. After a long battle, the Red Army is victorious, and 70,000 Japanese troops surrender.
battleofshanghai.png

The Red Airforce also unveils its newest model of Jet Aircraft for the first time in combat. The new MiG-15 Jet fighter is something that the Japanese have absolutely no answer to.

Soviet High Command decides to send Kuznetsovs battlegroup to the pacific ocean, all the way from its home base in Leningrad. Despite the nervousness of some naval officers, Stalin orders them to begin their journey.
aroundtheworld.png

Allied progress in India. Delhi is liberated, along with almost all of southern India.
india.png

Something interesting. The allies have surrounded the IJA in the city of baghdad, later crushing them in a massive assault.
battleofbaghdad.png

The Red Army continues to equip itself with brand new equipment. New forms of mechanized infantry carriers are now replacing older models.
newmechinf.png

Kuznetsovs fleet passes through the meditteranean sea and moves through the Suez canal, being greeted by allied troops on either side.
epicjournet.png

The fleet then passes through the indian ocean, and towards southeast asia. Here, the sailors and officers of the ships man their battle stations, ready for any encounter they might have with Japanese aircraft or ships.
enemywaters.png

However, no enemy vessels are encountered. The fleet moves nervously into tsushima strait. The men and women of the fleet know all to well that they are now sailing over the mass grave of the czars imperial navy. Will they suffer the same fate?
badmemories.png

They don't. The fleet arrives safely in Vladivostok to much fanfare. There, it is rechristened into the Soviet Red Banner Pacific Fleet.
redbannerpacificfleet.png

After reorganization, the fleet sets sail on its first combat mission in the pacific. It does not take long for them to find the Japanese. A light Cruiser fleet under the command of Admiral Ozawa engages the Soviet battleships north of the Ryukyu islands. The Japanese have better naval doctrines and tactics, but the Soviets have the most firepower at their disposal. After several hours, the Japanese are forced to withdraw, losing 4 of their ships to Soviet naval artillery.
japanesecruisers.png

However, the Japanese were able to score hits on one of the battleships, along with sinking some destroyers of 2 of the destroyer flotillas. The Fleet is ordered to return to port for repairs.

The Air Force also continues its own assault on the Imperial Japanese Navy, here, attacking 2 light cruisers and a flotilla of submarines in tsushima strait.
navalbombing.png

After repairing, the Navy also continues its hunt for enemy vessels. Here, a japanese cruiser and a flotilla of fairly advanced destroyers are destroyed.
morejapships.png

British troops beat MacArthur to the Philippines.
britishphillipines.png

Although the Red Navy can stand toe to toe with most Japanese surface combatants, the last thing it wants is to engage the Japanese carrier fleet. When word of its movements arrives to soviet command, they immediately order kuznetsov back to port.
runaway.png

On land, Soviet and Japanese troops continue to battle it out along the borders of burma, and here, indochina.
battleofqinzhou.png

The Japanese are facing more defeat. They are driven completely out of India and Persia, and the remnants of their middle eastern army are trapped and annihilated by allied forces at Chah Bahar.
japanesesurrounded.png

Stalin orders a new expansion to the Red Navy. Brand new super battleships, later joined with new light aircraft carriers, are ordered for construction.
superbattleships.png

Then, a startling report. The US navy has succeeded in totally annihilating the Japanese navy. The japanese now have fewer ships in their entire navy than are in kuznetsov's fleet!
IJNgone.png

With this revelation, stalin orders a new change in soviet prosecution of the war. With the IJN destroyed, the door is now almost wide open for a Soviet invasion of Japan itself. Stalin immediately orders the construction of a huge invasion fleet, to carry the Red Army across the sea to Japan's homeland.
invasionfleet.png

Allied and Soviet troops have almost linked up in Burma, with the Japanese unable to save themselves.

Did you cancel the BB's?

Anyways good progress, too bad you had to stir the Allies from their slumber.

@ Shast: The game is set to end in 1958, so there is plenty of time.

@ Maj. von Mauser: Don't worry, the BB's are still under construction.

Asia in 1948. Japan has been almost completely forced from the mainland, and its island bases are slowly falling one by one to allied troops.
asia1948.png

Soviet technology by 1948.
tech1948.png

By February 5th, 1948, the Soviet navy's new transport ships are finally ready.
transportsready.png

Followed shortly by a massive seaborne invasion of Japan itself. Soviet troops, tanks, and armoured vehicles land on the islands of Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Shikoku.
operationdownfall.png

Japan's leaders finally see the futility of their struggle, and attempt to sue for peace. However, Stalin will not hear of it, and simply throws the paper with the peace offer on it in his trash bin.
nopeace.png

Soviet troops attempt to gain a foothold on the main island of Honshu, attaching Hiroshima. However, the Japanese army is able to hold back the assault, thanks in part to a lack of soviet amphibious landing craft or shore bombardment.
battleofhiroshima.png

Soviet troops consolidate their positions on the island of Formosa, and launch an assault on the main Japanese base at kaohsiung. Tukachevsky's army easily forces the Japanese to collapse.
battleofkaoshiung.png

The Red Army attacks Hiroshima again, this time bringing in more troops and naval fire support. Finally, the Japanese defenses break, and they are forced to retreat. Also note the air support from the East German Airforce.
2ndbattleofhiroshima.png

Then a great day for the Soviet Union. The scientists at Omsk finally produce the ultimate weapon. The Atomic Bomb. This weapon has the ability of making armies, navies, and airforces obsolete. Now, no longer will a nations power depend on how many troops or machines it has, but rather, how many atomic bombs it can drop on the enemy's cities.

Good job mopping up the Japs in China,

just curious? How did Japanese AI be so successful until you showed them who is the ruler of both Europe, Asia and the future world?

@ Winner: On China, you shall see later.

By the way. At the point I am at in the game, it has begun to run unbearably slowly. I have actually considered just ending the game after japan's defeat, but it seems everyone here would like to see the cold war go hot, so I will try not to disappoint. ;) I have even switched to using counters instead of sprites, but that has not really helped much. What else is there that I can do about it?

Soviet troops continue to push further into Honshu Island, facing ever growing amounts of Japanese infantry, who are not only fighting for every inch of ground but are also entrenched in some of the most inhospitable territory in the entire island. Some Soviet veteran soldiers and commanders even remark that they are fighting far more harder than even the Germans did.
battleofnagoya.png

Meanwhile, the peoples of india have had enough. After seeing their lands wrecked by bitter fighting between Japan and the Allies, and after enduring several years of brutal Japanese occupation, the People of India and Pakistan leave the British empire. The British see no alternative but to let them go.
indianindependence.png

Soviet troops move in from Hokkaido and link up with the rest of the army. They begin to tighten the noose around the capital of the Japanese Empire, the major city of Tokyo.
battleoffukushima.png

The Japanese withdraw to their capital, garrisoning it with approximately 200,000 men. Stalin then decides to make an example of the Japanese. Instead of ordering the red army to smash their way into the city, stalin orders them to hold back. Instead, the first of the USSR's nuclear weapons is loaded on a Tu-4 heavy bomber in vladivostok...
bombloaded.png

And then dropped right into the center of the city. Soviet troops report seeing a brilliant flash, followed by an ominous mushroom shaped cloud on the horizon. No one in the red army, or for that matter the entire world, except maybe the scientists at omsk, have seen anything like it.
tokyodestroyed.png

The Japanese defenders flee the area, dropping their weapons in shear terror and surrendering in mass to the soviet army. Zhukov's tank corps is then ordered to secure the city. Zhukov and his battle hardened tankers and soldiers, who have endured many intense battles against the German army, are completely unprepared for what they see.
tokyoinruins.png

Nothing. There is literally almost nothing left of the once massive city of tokyo. It is learned soon that the Japanese government, including the emperor, had fled the city by airplane to the bonin islands just hours before the bomb fell.
Hiroshima_aftermath.jpg

A stunning intelligence report hits Stalin's desk. It is found out that the allies are letting the new federal Republic of Germany build bismarck class battleships! This particular battleship, the Moltke, is even joined by a new heavy cruiser, the Admiral Hipper!
holyshit.png

Soviet troops, after conquering Japan, begin to secure the last major bases and locations still left under Japanese control. First is Hainan island, which has been under siege ever since the fall of China.
battleofhainan.png

Then comes Okinawa, which is stormed by 60,000 soviet troops.
