I find that the USSR declares war on Germany in 1942 regardless of what Germany does.

For example, I was playing as Germany and trying to wait until 1942 to start the war, however the USSR declares war on me no matter what. I think that maybe the Russians shouldn't attack Germany until 2 or 3 years after the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact rather than in 1942 regardless.

Isn't 1942 three years after M-R Pact? :p

I suppose this stemmed from the speculation that USSR was planning to attack Germany, but were beaten to it by Barbarossa.

The events which lead the Soviet AI up to that attack require that they have a significantly larger army than you (120% or so I believe).

ah ok thanks. yea it makes sense that the USSR would attack eventually, but i just feel it should be timed until a few years after M-R pact.

well if i didn't choose to sign the pact until 1941 then no it's not 3 years later, it's 1.

Hitler was warned by his generals (von Runstedt IIRC) that Germany wouldn't be truly prepared for a world war until 1942 (we presume they meant that even then, only IF they managed to stockpile lots of strategic materials and oil), but he started it anyway because he felt he'd be too old to prosecute later. The war chewed him up anyway and ruined his health and his sanity (IMO Hitler was always evil, but at least until 1940 or so, he was mostly sane). Stalin could have similar motivations; he was a heavy drinker and 10 years older.
