I heard in part 10 of the www stream that the US will defend the south americans from outside invaders just not from each other. Is this still the same?
^ forgot to click reply sorry about that surI think it just starts with guarantees on the Americas. The US can take them back if it wants
yes devs had stated you canI want to know if I start as Columbia or something I can just start wars in south America and unite it all under my rule with out America poking there nose in it

If America is guaranteeing the countries as they said.... somewhere.... at the beginning of the game maybe... then America would attack anyone who declared war on the countries its protecting. There is no guaranteeing from selective countries as far as I know. Maybe America removes these guarantees later in the game? or maybe it doesn't start with them maybe it has a national focus or event to get them later?
EDIT: I think it was an older WWW where they mentioned the US starts with a guarantee, not sure.
I know in hoi3 I started as middle American nation and had the plan of conquering the bottom americans but then US just sent one fleet over and conquered my entire nationIf America is guaranteeing the countries as they said.... somewhere.... at the beginning of the game maybe... then America would attack anyone who declared war on the countries its protecting. Thank you so much. That is the answer I wanted to hear so badWhile the USA does start with guarantees for most of the nations in the Americas region podcat mentioned this in the USA DD:
"Since the question will be asked about guarantees.... it's worth pointing out that guarantees no longer come into effect if both sides of a war are guaranteed by you. So this means that the nations inside the US sphere of guarantees are protected from external attacks, but does not limit internal wars between nations. This should make playing a south american minor a lot more interesting than before!"
So long as this hasn't changed if you are a nation in the Americas you can DoW your neighbors without any real worries about the US.
I think so if the other side wins. I think civil wars act as if two nation are at war.I'm still curious if the guarantee disappears after a civil war though

I didn't even get started. I tried to take el Salvador in feb of 36 XD I was like yes they have fallen. Wait why has the game ended?Aha that is pretty good, glad cause I do want to have a game as Chile (probably get wiped but still).
Well I'm glad they changed that x3, must of been pretty annoying I hate it when I have the build up of a game then a pretty immediate end without the downfall.
Also I have a plan where I play as Columbia or a medium size nation, turn fascist, and form "The United Southern American Brotherhood" and pretty much accumulate as much power and territory in the Americas then when ww2 ends we will take back our rightful land from the Americas and cause world war 3. Main goal is to conquer the USA and plunge into Europe or get my butt kicked but look cool while doing it B)Aha that is pretty good, glad cause I do want to have a game as Chile (probably get wiped but still).

Tbh what I'm hoping is a historical type thing where Germany is defected and everyones liberated but then they for forget about the fascist cobra in the south whos fangs are poised to bite the American rear and show the joys fascisism can have on a nation >The Generic focus tree is pretty strong, and who says the US will win ww2? maybe you'll be fighting a north American Japanese colony.
Yeah that's how I think. I also wonder what happens if a nation in a faction has a civil war then the attacker change the government. Will they still be in a faction or whatThis is the why I think it will work but I am not 100% sure. Say the US is guaranteeing Democratic Canada who gets a civil war that wants to turn Canada Communist. I would think if Democratic Canada wins then the guarantee would stay but if Communist Canada wins then the guarantee would go away. This is actually a question that either @podcat or another dev maybe able to answer.
