I have been playing around with some custom sounds and I have come across an issue that is really unfortunate. First of all, I am running my own personal mod that alters the sound where you click on a unit. All it does is replace the march sound, with a voice from Medieval 2: Total War. The original plan was to have the sounds alternate with each click, and with each culture.
For example, say you play an Age of Empires game. Each nation has it's own unit sounds, and each time you click or give them an order, it plays a different sound. Unfortunately, from what I have messed around with, it seems like doing this is impossible in EU4 due to hardcoded limitations on how sound is played through the game.
My suggestion is to change this, and what I could think of is just making it just like the music folder. You have an asset file, and a text file. The asset file would define the sound effect in game, and the text file could be changed to play the sound if you are say, a German nation. You would then hear unique sounds based on what you have changed inside the text file.
I really think this would be a neat idea and it would open up a lot more possibilities for modding.
