Hello,

I tried searching the forum a few times but wasn't able to find anything. Sorry if this is common knowledge or something.

I'm wondering how I can identify exactly WHERE I downloaded a game. It's one that I've registered here on the forums (EU3 Chronicles, incidentally), so I've shown I own a legit copy.

It's just that I can't find it on Gamersgate, or Steam, or any of the digital distribution platforms I usually use. Pretty sure I didn't buy a hardcopy too.

I'd like to re-install it on this computer and play a few games in preparation for EU4, but without being able to easily tell where I got it I'm having a hard time. Found my EU3 Complete, that was on Gamersgate, along with my other stuff...no Chronicles though.

Any way I can get this information?

Thanks

Have you tried searching your registry? Sometimes the vendor's installation program puts their name in the registry keys.

Support can't know or find out where you bought the game from. Can you search back through your credit or bank records?

Note that in Steam the game will not appear as Chronicles, but as 3 games: EU3:Complete, HttT and DW - have you checked for that in your library?

As a forum member here you may have been sent a free Steam key in the newsletter, so you could use that instead.

Support can't connect a registered product key to a vendor? That seems strange from a database management perspective. Kind of like how all you need to identify who issued a credit card is the first 4 digits; there isn't a system in place here to do the same thing, either on Paradox's end or the digital distributors themselves?

And no, I can't go through my bank records from 3 years ago easily.

I do remember I had to pay for it, I am not signed up for the newsletter.

It's not that it was split into the game and the expansions either, so it's not hiding in my Steam list. Thanks for the idea though, I had not yet considered that one.

Not so far as I know, no. I'm not even sure support (or the forum admins) can access your key once entered here. Whether there are records of which keys were allocated to which vendors I don't know.

That said I'm not a Paradox employee, just a volunteer here. Feel free to log an official ticket with support and ask.
