After spending the first 100 so years uniting all the local nations as Cusco then colonizing up to the Aztecs general region and vasselising some of those I finally spot an opportunity to westernise by conquering some small tribe bordering a Spanish colony, vassalising it then using that to westernize. I made a horrible mistake without thinking clearly and hit the westernise button the moment I finished annexing that tribe flipping me to -3 stability and no way to actually gain any admin points for the entire process, this made westernisation a hilarious 30 year struggle of constant insane rebellions I had no way to put down at all, especially after switching to catholic midway through the war Spain itself declared on me which drained all banked gold.

But anyhow crazy westernisation later towards the end of that I was being forced to release territory as vassals due to imminent rebellions my single barely capable stack that was roughly even matched vs any rebel stack since the entire area is bloody mountains and eventually had to accept a few rebel demands even after the westernisation because the situation got very dire when a civil war started mid westernisation then seemed to show up again right after it, this time with 6 pretender stacks of screw you morale .

When I released Charka suddenly five of my provinces nowhere near them in the panama area suddenly flipped into a colonial nation despite the whole area being colonised years ago and never being a colonial nation then, territory's bordering them on either side are both still just my country so its really puzzling me as to why this happened. It isn't the worst thing in the world but its weird to say the least.

Also is there any reasonable recovery from this hell I have created? It was all looking so good before I hit that damn button..

cAp20s6.jpg

Edit: There is no recovery. I let the pretenders take over just to get an army and was still unable to fight off the rebels 7 years later and the situation is just all kinds of rebels everywhere with incoming interest bankrupcy in the horizon. Goddamnit.

Charca? It looks like it happened when you released Quito, since that broke the land connection to your capital. Unfortunately, now you'll never be able to colonize North American provinces without CNs forming.

Rebels are definitely rough as Inca because they'll be spawning in mountains -- a good tip for the future is to use mercs, which you should be able to afford as Christian Inca. If you send a stack of mercs into a rebel province and then send your main army a day later, the mercs will take the majority of your casualties (as long as you win) and you can save your manpower.

It does look like that but I actually released them way earlier in the westernization as my own vassal and everything stayed fine, Charca was released later by accepting demands then that colonial nation broke off, could have been something else that happened that month if its a monthly tick thing but I didn't release anything else or colonize any provinces any time close to it so its weirded me out, it does look like the reason the provinces above it are still mine is due to a different colonial region and the ones below it are technically still in my continent despite being the same colonial region, meaning if I annex the itza vassal it will probably morph into a colonial nation, what an upgrade huh. I should still have a land bridge too it via my vassals though, if you can core through them surely you that's enough. Might have to reload from ages ago and not westernise like a buffoon this has set me back crazy far.

Do rebels actually target smaller stacks? I've got nearly 700 hours in this game and I honestly couldn't say if rebels have any logic at all other than siege province, wait a few months then walk to an adjacent target province to siege at random even when walking into way larger armys. I suppose I could surround rebel stacks with mercs but that's a lot of mercs by itself and wouldn't deal with sieges in a timely manner. Would be very handy if they did

Colonies form on continents different from your capital unless you have an unbroken connection to it. If you manage to regain those provinces you released, then annex the CN (Just deliberately get its Liberty Desire to 100%, then beat it up) it won't come back.

It's one of the many quirks with the continent system. Even worse is playing as a SEA nation and having a colonial nation form in Australia when it's often closer than your other provinces.
I would love to see the system completely overhauled but I haven't seen a decent solution that wouldn't be completely arbitrary.

Making North and South America the same continent would be an interesting start. That said, CNs are now the only way for the poor natives to avoid the LA floor.

The LA floor (roof?) is a different, bigger, issue. Why Paradox decided to go with it I'll never understand. Even more baffling is why CNs are magically immune to it, they're already ridiculously powerful and have basically no threats besides other CNs.
I guess every major EU4 patch has to have the patented "PARADOX WTF R U DOING?" mechanic.

Colonial Nations are better than owning it yourself until Paradox fixes native colonization, and I'll say it again, paradox needs to change that ridiculous notion that a province next to your capital can be 50% LA but one hundreds of miles away(but conquered) can be at 0%
