Hey All,

I've noticed this across multiple playthroughs on various countries, if I appoint my sons to marshall and they wear the helm upon accession to dukedom/kingdom titles they're completely bald. Even at the age of 26, he went from a full head of hair to bald after being marshal for one month. Is there a way to fix this problem?

Thanks all!

For some reason I think this was added in a patch. You have to be bald to have the marshal's chain mail outfit. Not sure why.

Yeah, 1.07 change log:

- Portraits: All characters are now bald if they wear the chain mail hood

You can change this behavior by opening up portrait_properties.txt in CK2's interface folder. Look for "p1 hair" and then scroll down. You should immediately see 0 = { #Completely bald. You do not have to touch that section. Keep scrolling down and you'll see the index for "Black Adder". Look for the section that looks like this:
Code:
		modifier = {
			factor = 0
			is_female = no
			NOT = { tier = king }
			NOT = { tier = emperor }
			OR = {
				NOT = { tier = duke }
				primary_title = {
					OR = {
						mercenary = yes
						title = d_knights_hospitaler
						title = d_knights_templar
						title = d_teutonic_order
					}
				}
			}
			OR = {
				has_job_title = job_marshal
				martial = 12
			}
		}

You can either change factor = 0 to some non-zero number (set it to 1 if you want hairstyles to have the same frequency they had before 1.07), delete this section entirely, or comment it out by putting #'s before each line. Repeat the same procedure for all the other hairstyles (there are 14, counting baldness). As always, make sure to back up any files you edit.

mind if I ask, but what was the point of having them be bald whenever they don the chainmail hood? clipping issues?

It appears so. You can see this if you have use the ruler designer to create a long-haired western male and put chain mail on him.

Does chain-mail baldness occur on a vanilla game if the courtier in question has a martial stat below 12?
