This power grab by the liberal and conservative bourgeois elite is detestable! This is entirely a ploy by the liberals to rig the system.
Konrad Friedrich von Hohenzollern is puzzled as to why the Communists have begun criticizing the "liberal bourgeois elite" with whom they have established a governing coalition.

Voting for all issues is now closed.

The no-confidence vote fails, 97 votes to 252 in the Assembly and 31 votes to 50 in the Conclave.
The extension of pensions passes, 359 to 84 in the Assembly and 45 to 27 in the Conclave.
Finally, the bill to nationalize major German railroads passes, 307 to 94 in the Assembly and 44 to 27 in the Conclave. This bill should be signed by the President and then the Chancellor.

The new Foreign Minister needs to present his plan for foreign affairs ((@NachoEater)).

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

Chancellor von Bavel signs the bill nationalising the German Railways a few moments later.

Otto Meier smirks, thinking of how angry his family will be to lose their control over the railroads, and that they lost it to him.

Sorry to miss the last few sessions of the Reichstag. I just took a slightly prolonged holiday in New York. Great city, great culture, but of course not as great as the city of Berlin!

Now back to business...

((Who are we influencing/improving relations with currently?))

((I'll take a look and get back to you tomorrow afternoon, maybe evening.))

((Countries we're influencing: Yemen, Tver, Syria, Sweden, Nizhny Novogord, Morocco, Malacca, Luang Prabang, Kurland, Hungary, Egypt, Denmark, Danzig, Dai Nam, Brittany, Benin, Algeria, Ak Koyunlu [full]; Krakow, Morea, Japan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Castille, Azerbaijan. [one bar]

AK, Benin, Hungary, and NN are all probably a waste of time, since they're in the spheres of the UK or Poland. As for the others, we've needed a dramatic reappraisal of our foreign policy for a while, I think.

Our allies are mostly spherelings, with the addition of Ethiopia. Not all of our spherelings are allies, but the important ones are. We don't have positive relations with any GPs except Ethiopia. We're the closest (-31) to China, who will accept if we go positive with them. Poland, France, Byzantines, and Venice will never say yes, because we have their cores. If we play a really long foreign policy game, we could get the Brits as an ally, but it'll take years and we'll need to be consistent.))

((Ok, thank you.))

The Foreign Ministry's plan for 1903 is as follows:

Recognising that the former plan is extremely bloated, we will focus on a few key areas:
Focusing primarily on influence on Europe, we will cease attempts to influence Yemen, Algeria, Luang Prabang, Azerbaijan and Dai Nam. Furthermore, we will cease fighting the Polish and Scots for Ak Koyunlu, Benin, Hungary and Nizhny Novgorod. We will try and ally The Chinese Empire, as well as the Japanese, only to ensure stability in the East Asian region. Finally, we'll make diplomatic overtures to the Hedjazi, with a view to a future alliance.

((Keep Yemen, Algeria, Luang Prabang, Azerbaijan and Dai Nam in our sphere for now, but do not resist any attempts by other GP's to sphere them. Increase influence on Japan to full bars, and try and get an alliance with China. Influence Hedjaz to full, and improve relations until they'll accept an alliance if need be. If they're already sphered, again, you can ignore that.))

Is the foreign minister suffering from a touch of the brain fever? Was not the pope kicked out of Rome, with the newly established republic asking for the union with us?

Apologies. You are, of course, correct. That was an error that has since been fixed.

((Woops. I really need to get some sleep before making plans like this.))

Well, it would be interesting to hold parliament in Rome...

Are the Venetians still holding the Sicilian people hostage? I'm surprised nothing has been done to unite them with their Italian brethren under German rule.

Can we shut down the awful joke that is Italian federalisim already and centralise all legislation into the Capitol?

How about no? The last thing that is good for the people of Italy is to let a bunch of foolish Germans who are only interested in cultural dominion rule without opposition.

Sounds like treason. Are you a traitor? You look like a traitor.
