I could go on about what I find as German, but at the moment its the idea of German citizenship that is in peril. Unfortunately the new Act makes it so these new German citizens don't even have to live under the German banner in our so-called democratic imperial republic, as you put it, nor do their parents or grandparents if a single ancestor down their family line was a German citizen. As I have stated, children of German emigrants will now be raised outside of Germany with loyalty to a foreign power and not our state who now will become German citizens. By the grace of God, I only hope that this Act is not retroactive or the Germany we know is lost.
- Wilhelm von Vandenburg
((In all seriousness, this Act seems incredibly radical to me, even by today's standards. Being able to inherit citizenship, regardless of birthplace or where one is raised, seems quite dangerous to me. If the countries of Europe had adopted such a measure in real life back in the 19th century, I could probably be a citizen of half a dozen nations.
