((Are we gonna vote on war with Venice?))

((Not until the justification is finished. One thing at a time. :) ))

This KAP or KPD or whatever it is calling itself is nothing short of a threat to all we Germans hold dear. As a businessman, the idea that all of our economic decisions would ever be dictated by the government is morally repugnant. Ban the communists. ((BTW, what are we calling the party?))

I do not begrudge Herr van Kloetinge his position; he has long been an effective legislator and an asset to Germany. Yet, we must have some way to act effectively against the enemies of Germany, and sometimes that requires more... discretion than the Gendarmerie is known for. One man acting in secret can be more effective than a hundred in uniforms. No to the Gendarmerie Reform Act.

Although most of the world is already colonized, and therefore the ministry seems somewhat suspect to me, I have no objections to creating it if we gain more land in Africa. Aye.

Finally, it is critical that government employees not unionize and try to blackmail the government into doing something untoward. Aye to the Union Act.

((the site won't let me bold))

I do question how I can be considered godless when the Communist Manifesto makes no mention of being against religion, and I myself am a good Christian man. Please, Comrade Arnim-Boitzenburg; please do try harder next time.

((I think a communism created in the Islamic world wouldn't be vehemently anti-religion, no?))

((But we're talking about 19th century Hedjaz. They wouldn't necessarily have the same... kinda feelings as the Osman land would be... hm.))

((I don't see how Communism can be supportive of religion. Socialism can coexist with religion, sure, but Communism is inherently atheist, or at least anti-clerical.))

((You could always look to Poland for an example. Despite being communist while a member of the Warsaw Pact, there was still a strong Catholic element. I'm sure there were plenty of conflicts between the two though. I think the idea that a communist party would support secularism over atheism isn't too far-fetched. It's just saying that religion should be removed from government instead of saying it's false.))

((After some thought, one can make arguments going either way. While historically Muslim states have had little in the way of religious authorities owning lands - therefore removing the economic agitation against the church - they have also had the issue of the secular authorities and the religious authorities either being one and the same or the former having a great deal of control over the latter - creating a political agitation that furthers the idea that religion is merely the opiate of the masses and should therefore be destroyed in order to usher in the workers' paradise.))

((Thanks.))
