Air Supply/Convoys.
Nothing really to explain on this I want to be able to send supplies via air to provinces out of supply. Historically Rommel in N.Africa got alot of supplies.
Have it function like convoys did but with planes and to anywhere.

Airlifting Infantry.
I know you can move Paras around like this but it would also be nice to be able to move normal Infantry like this (not a Paradrop) just fly them from one of your provinces to another.(get men places faster) Historically was planned to airlift the 52nd(i think 52nd) Division to Arnhem after the British had captured a nearby airfeild. Of course that didn't go to smoothly.

Supplies in general.
Now i love the supplies and logistics in HOI. BUT When i was playing the 1944 game as the germans. I ran into some problems when the country got split. I had a strong force holding out in a strong position(large one at that; all of Austria, Southern Studentenland, and most of Southern Barvaria.) Then I had a pocket in Berlin (Berlin and Rostock but Rostock quickly fell) Now all the places i had troops left where National provinces.. But once I was cut off from Berlin my extremely large pocket in the south was doomed, because of the bit about HAVING to be connected to your capital... Now come on people the pocket should easily be able to supply itself considering it contianed well over half my IC. By all mean the surround 1 province of Berlin should have had a harder time of supplying itself.

Some how this should be fixed. Something like any pocket with 3 or more (National)provinces in it should be able to supply itself if it has enough IC to produce the supplies. Thats just a basic idea but its something like i want.

you have to think how would those factories get the resources to run without access to your capital or a port? Plus it would be supporting alot of divisions. If they were japanese it would be one thing(all they need is Saki) but since it is Germans they are more highmaintence(they need Snitzle, sausage, coffee, jaegermiester, cigs, a good leader, mail, and some shorts) So you see it is unreasonable to suggest just because a factory is there is could run without contact with resources.

Supply convoys airlifts shouldn't be able to go everywhere. No way on earth are you gonna supply Argentina with supplies from Tannu Tuva. This topic has been discussed to death and a more in-depth discussion is bound to be only a page or two back.

Airlifting infantry has also been a hope of mine as is the above, but then I think there would be more people finding ways to exploit this and it may outweigh the benefeit.

The Supply/Captial part is quite true. Play a game as Japan, encircle their capital and Shanghai, and let the rest of them rot. Surely, they only lost 3-4 provinces from naval landings and paratroopers, but now the militias own by independent warlords fighting for the nationalists find themselves without food. They've gotta fix it, probably one of my bigger concerns.

And besides, unless we are talking of a paratrooper-like INF division (with only hand weapons and mortar like 'guns'), there weren't transport planes around big and strong enough to carry the heavy equipment of the organic support regiments (like heavy guns, triple A, etc).

The Germans messed around with the Gigant, but couldn't get that to work in any acceptable way.

And even if we expand the tech tree to include transport planes that can carry that equipment, you would need an awful lot of those planes to airlift an entire division. Given that one HoI airwing represents roughly 100 planes, you would need literally dozens of transport airwings to model airlifting an entire INF division in one go. Or, create one transport wing that represents those dozens of 100 plane wings. Which, of course, would make that transport wing so excessively expensive that noone in their right mind would ever build one.

Now, if we were to replace the division as atomic unit with a brigade or regiment as atomic unit, then it would be a different story. Then you could airlift a division one regiment at a time, possibly banning the organic support regiments from airlift at all until the arrival of big transport planes (like the Gigant).

Airsupply: No earial convoys (too abstract, how to escort), but have transportplanes do mission (like tactical bombing, just give it name like supply run) repeat order is a must. Allow supply runs to be done, say 4 hours distance. 1 transportplanedivision could transport, say enough to supply 2 infantry divisions for 8 hours (full supply four provinces away).

Airlift: Allow infantry divisions without brigades to be transported. They land with 0 organization and without supply. Reasonable?

Supply: Allow one to create supply centres (like in HOI, but where ever you want to gather them). Then again if you want have all your supplies in Berlin, it's ok for you. Maybe there should be land convoys, which would transport materials and supplies from centre to another (maybe have guerillas (dissidence) disrupting them as well?) This would mean short supply distances for your units, but it would make conquerring Siberia stretch your infrastructure. And they could be overrun. This also requires you to prioritize, if your country is too large or expanding too fast.

Any comments?

I like Oscu's ideas. Something else that could be used as a limiting factor on a reinforcing measure is that non-paratroop units are unable to be utilized in a paradrop, only in a "strategic reinforcement".

assume tech control and military build

assume military control of your allies helps, but you should be able to chose what techs they will research and what units they will build, dont know how many times ive reloaded as hungary and they are researching naval techs? ai doesnt make sense

the control you assert over a country would depend entirely on how much liberty you give them. There shoudl be some way to balance control with teh morale of the freed people. IE, the more control you keep for yourself, the lower the morale, b/c they are governing themselves less.

Airlift full Infantry Divisions would be extremly difficult since you would have problems to transport the divisions heavy attachments like 150mm guns and so on.
