Hey paradox, I've been playing since EU4 was released and played through these patches.

Which this latest patch I gotta say, you guys should really just take out the no cassus belli war. I went and no cassus bellie war and took 5 native provinces and it did not turn into a colony because of the last patch. Nice change, but really frustrating that you guys make so many changes from patch to patch where if you just thought about how the game works you could just do it all at once.

You guys could have solved the problem of blitzkrieg colonialism from the launch of the game if you didn't have no cassus belli wars. Seriously, you'd have to wait to colonize next to them to get a cassus belli or find another way.

Having to core the overseas conquered proivnces before they turn into a colony really sucks. Mainly because taking and coring the province requires the same dipolomacy and Admin points as it does for a province in Europe. But you get the overseas penalty or it turns into a colony. So its not really worth it at all. Better to just conquer in Europe.

And seriously fix protectorates, this is getting ridiculous. Just make it so that they eventually turn in to vassals.
Then when you release trade company DLC you can change it to some other god awful mechanism.

No-CB wars are an important part of the game, especially in MP. You have to be prepared for a rival power to launch a 'mad dog' strike on you at any time.

Yes, you can blitz the natives this way, but it doesn't really pay to do so.

So you complain that you can't magically turn a native tribe into a fully governed colony after doing an extremely unrealistic and ahistoric invasion?

I don't see your point :p

Actually, you still can. You just can't do it from the western tech group. Mongol Mexico or someone like Korea could get there and snipe it for vassal/annex very quickly. Granted, actually protecting said colonies, which will not be western, could be an issue...

Besides, the Mayans will take loans in every game I've played so far, which means getting a CB in the new world is trivial as soon as you have QFTNW unlocked in exploration, so blocking no-CB wars won't help at all.

The easiest way to get unorthodox nations into the colonial party these days is to conquer Connaught in Ireland. Good rulers can get to Greenland around 1480.

Yeah, I've always found "no cb wars" to be a mp thing, not useful for single player, but plays an important role in all mp games.
There are occasionally reasons to do it in SP, but not many.

Update while playing over the past little while.

North american natives all westernized by 1500's while the mesmo american protecorates are still mesmo tech. So a European nation went in and vassalized all the natives.

And regarding the no cassus belli. I just think that the plethora of wasy to get cassus belli is pretty uselsess since you can just declare war whenever you want.
"so and so is fabricating a claim" - who cares? they could attack without notice anyway.

*pop up* *pop up* *pop up* *pop up* *pop up* *pop up* *pop up* *pop up* flooding my screen with useless cassus belli events for what reason? Get a cassus belli or send an insult. whoopdy doo.

Get a certain idea group that gives you cassus belli? Whats the point?

My point is that a huge part of the game has all this stuff that is dedicated to cassus belli that becomes pointless if your willing to take a -2 stability hit and a couple of war exhaustion.

I made a thread like this in previous patches where I mentioned all the negatvie stablity hits were pointless because if I was at -2 stabiliyt and got a negative event all it mean was its time to go declare a random war. Play the whole game at -3 stability and only upped it when I wanted to delcare war.
The devs changed that which is great. I hope they peak in on this one.

Even in multiplayer being able to randomly declare war is kinda stupid. If you want to attack someone go and work for that cassus belli. Or if you get a random event for a cassus belli then get a move on and use it. Makes the game more immerse.

Then you are not making good use of the CB system.

"so and so is fabricating a claim" - who cares? they could attack without notice anyway.
But the claim lets them core the province cheaper and faster, and the casus belli lets them take the land without racking up as much AE.

I know this. I was just refering to the other comments about people thinking the cassus belli is super important for multiplayer.

Just so everyone knows, I'm disgruntled about the no cassus belli wars because I'm someone who has abused it like crazy. Not because I was the target in some MP game.
I just think need a cassus belli in order to declare wars would enhance the part of the game that involves getting claims. Specifically the 3 or 4 idea groups that give cassus belli against pagans, heathens, asians, etc....

What? I hope I'm reading that wrong but.. are you disgruntled because you abused something and they aren't changing the game to stop you from doing that..?

If you think a CB should be needed every time then don't start wars without one.
