Strange. When I report things I normally get a reply within hours; granted it most often is spambots of the really dubious kind (i.e. link to pirate site in best case; to attack site in worst), but when I have reported personal attacks or similar violations I haven't seen the mods being slower to respond than with spam bots.
It really depends on timezones and forums, I assume. The daily situation might be different from time to time.

Issue is, its is quite cumbersome to PM the mods - and while you do get a thank you, it seems certain types of behaviour can be repeated frequently before they finally run up enough infractions for 'on probation' or 'banned', which in turn feeds back to little incentive to even report them.

But that's exactly how the point system works, and it would work that way regardless of whether they were reported by PM or a magic button. We don't want people to be insta-banned for one offence; the first infraction or two should, and usually, does, lead to a modification of behaviour so it doesn't keep happening.

I disagree.
Some rules don't get reported because they are broken so frequently. I know myself that if I were to report one particular rule every time it is violated I'd be sending 2 or 3 PMs a day.
So send one a day with the 2 to 3 violations to us, and we will look into it or pass it on to the mod over the forum in question.

I prefer system as its setup at militaryphotos.net forum - infraction points there have usually much shorter expiration (1-2 months) and are issued for minor violation of the rules, while things like personal attacks just get rewarded by 2-4 week (or longer for repeated offenders) forum ban. 12 active infraction point is automatic 2 week ban.

Its effective enough (on forum with Report Post button), that they even have active thread about Ukraine conflict (thread stats: Replies: 128,040 Views: 21,365,147)

It's pretty amusing to read newbies talking about the old days ;)

There have always been 'certain' people on the Paradox forums, it's life, particularly in the Hearts of Iron forums and when they would occasionally spill out into the OT.

Except of course there was a time before HOI 1 was released. :)

Running a Hobby or fan site is much different than running a corporate site, you can have different rules and enforcement of them.
