Cultures and Portaits Revamp (v2.0.7 - 2014-12-19)
EMF: Extended Mechanics & Flavor (v3.01 - 2014-12-19)[/COLOR]

I'm not sure if this is WAD, an anomaly that I am seeing, or potentially a bug. Problem does not appear to exist in vanilla CKII with all expansions (except Sunset Invasion) up to WoL.

Looking to find someone to fill in as my steward and was finding it basically impossible to invite nearly anyone to my court. To test added consoled myself 99 diplomacy and 5000 wealth so I could test. I looked for lowborn males and females with not titles, negative opinions of their lieges, within my culture group and with my same religion. I found several, sent them gifts which brought their opinion of me up to 100, but they still will not accept my invitation. Screen shot below.

I assume this is not a bug, but is there a way for me to mod characters' willingness to accept invitations?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It is a bug. I'm not sure exactly where it comes from though. It's not a feature of EMF or VIET, so it might be some incompatibility between PB and EMF. That's the only thing that comes to mind that could be causing it.

It's a bug with the game, even if it doesn't seem to come up in your vanilla games. There are literally only a couple variables in defines.lua that alter the AI chance threshold for acceptance and denial of a diplo-action. There is no ability to influence the actual AI reasoning. Anywhere. [This is frustrating, as you can imagine.] But it means that there is some other hardcoded bug in the game regarding AI reasoning that apparently is showing itself in HIP more than vanilla. There could very well be something else "amiss/non-vanilla" in HIP that's setting off an indirect bug in the EXE. But, insofar as anything we can reason about a priori, this is the sort of issue that will usually be resolved by a patch and not a change in HIP.

If you could please take a screenshot showing the AI reasoning pros/cons (the named AI reject/accept reason with 1-6 (+) or minus (-) symbols indicating the importance of that reason-- tooltip should be over the Send button), that might give me some kind of insight.

I'm also getting this bug. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with AI opinion/desire modifiers, since if you hover over "no" to see why they won't come to your court, you don't get anything.

nMtR2tr.jpg

A random example courtier. This person in vanilla would gladly join my court - negative opinion of liege and nearly maxed on opinion of me. I'm hovering over the "No" with the cursor, though the cursor isn't shown for whatever reason. There's no opinion/desire modifiers that are affecting whether they want to join my court. It's kind of spoiling my game since I could get a lot more done if I could just invite some damn claimants to marry them to my dynasty (I really need Lombardia!).

When you guys are referring to vanilla, do you mean vanilla vanilla (what I've been assuming) or HIP on the vanilla map? Just to be sure.

If it's HIP on the vanilla map that works fine and only HIP/SWMH that has issues after all, then I'd think there might be something that I could do, although I have almost no clue what that would be. From recent patch notes that has been a lot of activity related to these types of diplo-interactions, a number of related changes entirely hardcoded. Here's two recent ones from a quick search of the CK2 changelog for /invite.*? court/

- Executing interactions in diplomacy view will now update the yes/no icons indicating if characters will join your plot or accept being invited to your court. (2.3)
- Adventurers will no longer accept being invited to your court. (2.2.1)

Seems the 2.3 change mentioned might be relevant.

It does seem that the latest patch and or WoL has nearly broken significant parts of the game.

For me vanilla means no mods whatsoever.

In current vanilla 2.3 with all expansions except Sunset Invasion, it is much more difficult to successfully invite individuals than my alternate install.
Code:
[COLOR="#FFFFFF"]Patched up to RoI with and without running Historical Immersion Project (2014-02-15) version 2.852 (sorry only reference version I have available)[/COLOR]

However, when I run HIP (version referenced in my OP) it is basically impossible to get someone to join my court.

OK, so I've confirmed the behavior in EMF+SWMH wherein the diplo view gives zero AI reasoning tooltip and always seems to decline.

Further, I've confirmed that EMF w/o SWMH (vanilla map) actually does show the AI reasoning tooltips, and although it was much more difficult than in the past to get a character to want to come to my court without them having a claim that I could push for them, I believe that's totally vanilla behavior (and probably good). Here's proof:

What does this mean? There's still something about SWMH that is bugging the engine. That's not to say that whatever it is makes any sense (likely doesn't), but SWMH does something that vanilla doesn't and thus the Paradox devs haven't been tripping this bug. Sadly, that means they may never fix it too, so further deep investigation and tweaking of SWMH to make it structured more like vanilla may be in order barring a patch that happens to fix the issue soon. Sigh...

(Want to spend my free time developing new & novel improvements to the game-- not ultra-tediously figuring out why Paradox's buggy code doesn't robustly fail with an error for SWMH at whatever point it's getting confused enough to have unintended side effects such as not displaying AI reasoning tooltips. Ultra-frustrating.)

Thanks, guys, for joining voices and making sure that I knew that there was an issue here and specifically one with the SWMH side of HIP. This can't stand. I don't care about 'invite to court' for buffing player councils; it's critical for inviting claimants and pushing their claim, however (how the hell else do you expand as a Christian?). And the issue does seem to be affecting some other diplo-interactions as well.

Sorry zijistark, bu thank you so much for all your hard work. Sucks that you have to spend any time on things such as this.

Anyway I could help? A 3 year old and work severely limit my time, but I would be willing to try.

I'm getting this for court invites as well as plot invites, and I get no tool tip when I know they should want to move/join.

Same here, can´t convince people to join plots unless they already want to right at the start. Can´t invite people to my court and religious conversion doesn´t work either...

I experienced that I could demand religious conversion of people who were my friends. Naturally the had a perfect opinion of me, demanding conversion of other people with +100 doesn´t work, even my wife refuses.
Maybe this helps to find the problem?

Re this issue: How does lovers work for invites currently? I'm not able to invite my unmarried lovers to my court, despite a +100 opinion and them having a negative opinion of their current liege.
