Well, I know this is old school, but that old game (released in 1989) allowed you to customise units in terms of armor and weapons, it´s something that I haven´t seen done again (with a few exceptions) in this kind of role-play wargames.
I know it would create a balancing nightmare to solve, but it would really add to the role-play side, at least let us choose colors and banners for our troops!!
For those that know nothing about that game, it was basicaly the same as King Arthur but without the arthurian mythology and with turn based battles...and 2D horrible graphics of course...but who cares...once I played it with my brother for 36 hours straight on an Amiga 500...the things you do when you are young!
