I am playing as England on 1.07b and there is some WIERD happenings going on. Not bugs, but just wierd things that would have never ever happened:

1) Persia annexed The Hanse

2) Chinese army stationed in Conecticut after taking a French city.

3) Japanese fleet sighted in English channel

4) Danish colonies in Australia

1) Persia annexed The Hanse

Er, Politically or militarily, old boy?

2) Chinese army stationed in Conecticut after taking a French city.

I've seen Persians taking Plymouth, allies of the Royalists, sonny jim.

3) Japanese fleet sighted in English channel

Polish fleet sighted on the west coast of Australia. Beat that

4) Danish colonies in Australia

'Er, Politically or militarily, old boy?'

Militarily, duh.. :)

Anyways, yeah you beat me, but still that stuff is too wierd. It kinda takes away the whole realness of a game... Polish people would never have made a colony in India right?
The Chinese would never of went across the whole Pacific just to get a tiny province... don't you agree?

I did come across some exotic colonies today, but those were real:

Swedish in the Delaware area. Brandenburgians (not Prussians) along the Gold Coast. Danes in India (Tranquebar, Nikobares).

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Historically, the swedes did have a small colony in the old US of A ...I think in new york... The danes also had small colonies in the Americas... Curaco, Greenland, the Danish part of the Virgin Islands... Sometimes history can be weirer than fiction... I think it's neat that these unexpected events occur....

sweden had a colonie in delaware named new sweden and the main 'city' was fort christina but later the netherlands took it and later the english. New sweden is a very interesting colony and the swedish people should read 'Folket i nya sverige'

In one game over two months ago, I saw Pskov build a 4 province empire from Kazan and the Golden Horde territories through an alliance with Russia. Russia eventually got mad at Pskov and attacked it several times, but succeeded only in losing a province, giving Pskov a total of 6 :).

I also saw the Knights Hospitallers conquer Tripolitania in a more recent game.

Btw, I have a forgotten fact on New Sweden. It is known that after the conquest of New Sweden by Holland, the cost for the upkeep of the Swedish forts was so expensive that they really considerated giving them back to Sweden. Alas, the English arrived and conquered the Dutch colonies before it could be done.

Sad, isn't it? :(

I didn't think the Chinese had the technology to move naval forces into the Atlantic?

How did they get an army to Connecticut?

Also, how would the Aztecs have gotten to Europe?

I thought these non-european cultures had a weak tech tree.

Well around 1500 in my game the Danes went to war with the Poles and ended up grabbing Pripet so there's this one tiny Danish province with no other Danish cities anywhere close :)
Also its kind of funny watching Portuguese colonists tramping through my territory (I'm Persia) on their way to Goa :)

Doesn't that make the game much more fun? If it actually followed regular history, it would be quite boring. But imagine Japanese conquering part of Brittish isles or Chinese looting Paris :D And Aztec conquistador Umalumapma conquering Spain :) Not that it would happen, but it could happen
That's the one thing that make EU fun: you can expect the unexpected.

Persia has at least one harbour, maybe even two (not quite sure now).

Is strange defined as 'it didn't actually happen'?

There are any number of rather odd and improbably events that *did* happen, EU just has a different set of odd or improbably events occuring.

I think I will rather enjoy it.

You want to hear weird?

I was just playing France in GC, when out of the friggin' blue, England annexes... Austria! This is abouts 1514 or so... England has NO provinces adjacent to Austrian territory, Austria was NOT a vassal to England before... Needless to say, Austria's own vassals were a bit confused. Methinks this is a bug, eh? Also, when I went to save the game after this event, I happened to include a '?' in the save game name. Don't do that. It crashed horribly. Luckily it was in early january, so no harm done. I do have a screenshot of 'England-Austria', but I have no means of putting up...

Pskov can fight back sometimes... someone wrote about them co-operating with the Ruskies and grabbing some Kazan land. Anyway, in my first game (played Spain, so I didn't interfere much) Pskov did the same thing... only more so... after a century or so they'd managed to cut Russia off from Poland-Lithauania completely... This is Russia with the Khanates ('cept the Krim). Pskov is a major power in Eastern Europe there... :)

It´s wierd what the AI does sometimes, but it´s even wierder what it DOESN`T do.

In my last game, France lost the Provence to Savoy early. Even though Frence became strong (very strong, annexing Scotland, conquering half of Spain and even Poland) it never bothered to reclaim one of its core-provinces from a third-class power.
I have often seen this situation. The AI is just not interested in recovering core provinces.
(If this has changed after 1.05b ignore this post)

If it seems that a country annexes another one out of the blue, then this could be the rare 'inheritance event'.
But I can confirm annexations without common border and also vassalisation without proper religion (before the tolerance edict).

About Austria: In my last game France incidentally got a province next to Austria. Within somewhat more than 10 years Austria got annexed (despite having extended it´s realm over Bavaria).

@weird god: Because You used present tense I thought You were talking about Persia as such. The AI doesn´t cheat. Persia may still have had ships out there. On certain occasions one can even use the ports of allies/vassals.
