I was just wondering what will happen if the player commanding either a democratic major or USSR uses hindsight to the maximum and manages to defeat Germany much quicker?
My point is that if WWII ends quicker, what will happen during the years remaining? IMHO, the prospect of a final showdown between Fascism-Communism, Democracy-Communism, etc. should always be present to spice up the gameplay after the deafeat of one of the major political doctrines or at least the penalties for war should be drastically reduced, otherwise it will be horribly boring.
Second, about the starting date:
Shouldn't the players be able to choose the starting date when possible? For example, if a player wants to dogdge the disaster of Stalingrad, or foil D-Day, or conquer South Africa as Germany, or undertake any such task of defying history, he should be allowed to so. I do, however, realize that writing a script for the historical context for the 13th of February 1943 or any other day is quite a challenge, so if this isn't possible, it's ok, but if this can be accomplished, it will boost gameplay dramatically, imagine playing Germany on the 6th June 1944 at 0600 hours when reports of paradrops and landings fill the message log... nice.
Oh, and if anyone is interested in a cool fantasia multiplayer idea, how about this: The US vs the rest of the world 1936-????.
