Barring a miracle I imagine that the 'crisis to come' in my current game will likely run over the galaxy.
This post is less of a game report and more of a "be careful that you don't do what I did" wrong.
FYI: I'm holding my own against the War in Heaven and making [marginal / tiny] progress. When the crisis comes though I doubt any empire [or federation] will likely be able to concentrate enough force to stop them. I suspect I could cheese out and stall but even that may be too-little-too-late.
EDIT: The new beta patch turned the [bad] economics of my game totally around. Empire Sprawl dropped a ton, economy [as ascended synths] was vastly better, etc. Could even [finally] afford to fire off the Archology project and get those alloys really flowing.

- As soon as you find all Fallen Empires see if a War-in-Heaven is possible. If so don't count on a federation fleet to help you. The war will likely completely dissolve existing federations along with the entire federation fleet ... poof [gone].
- MegaCorps + minimal habitable planets in game settings aren't a good mix. You likely won't be able to "spam" franchises all over the place because there's simply not enough planets. You largely get all of the negatives but not the positives.
- If you role play [RP] then make sure you tailor the game settings so you can have an enjoyable experience. Whether that means tweaking Crisis strength, moving the endgame date around, etc. I recommend you do whatever you need to have fun.
- Understand the difference between "insanely lucky" and "good game play". In my last game I didn't realize how big it was to find Fin Habbenis (sp?), AND a Gaia planet with weak-enough guardians to take early, AND an anomaly that gave me a planet. This was incredibly lucky -- however I set this game's settings like I'd have the same luck next game
