I love the battle planner. I could write a paragraph here about how amazing it looks, but I will spare you.
I love that research and national focus systems do not penalize the player if it takes him a few days to select his next choice; there is now a small window after one of these finishes to make that new selection without losing any of the political power or research progress.
I love that if you have two units with different commanders in the same fight those units get the bonuses from their appropriate commanders.
Whoever thought of these things, or argued for them until they were put in place; thank you.
and one kind-of-embarrassing-to-admit one to round out the list...
I Love listening to the first ten minutes of the twitch stream, before they start. the music!!
Enough positivity. now time to nit pick about something. The mechanics of the ahead of time penalty are completely clunky. Assuming the rate of research is the same, It should not ever be the case that the Player who started research first finishes it after the player who started second just because he had a larger ahead of time penalty due to the date on which he clicked on the research to select it. That is to say, the player's ahead of time penalty must adjust on a monthly basis or even more frequently, such that this does not occur. Or another way to say this is that the game should assign a research penalty based on days or months ahead of time not years ahead of time.
For example, Podcat has a 50% research bonus and I have a 40% research bonus. Podcat starts researching Surface Plasmon Polariton Scanners exactly one day before I do. Even though I have a smaller bonus I finish months before Podcat, because he started his research on Dec 31 and I started mine on Jan 1. Insert any other two days, and Podcat would finishes first. It's just... weird. I base this on footage from an old build, and there is always the possibility that I am just wrong (again).
