Hi, this is my first post. I like the game and all, but look forward (a lot) to the next patch bringing better economic balance to the game.
Some strange things about 1.02, a 2 province country like Haiti has far better economy than a country like Denmark, how realistic is this? hehe (income is not as such higher, it just has a hell of a lot more valuable base RGOs (and potentially huge immigration from europe)- and after you (fairly easily) buy 3 more tobacco provinces from spain its sooo easy- just build a modern navy and no-one can touch you). Imho one thing you could do to better balance it and make it more realistic for a country like denmark (huge foodstuffs (cattle, grain and fish) production) is to give it a bonus when its population buys these resources from the worldmarket. I mean c'mon, grain or meat did not cost as much to a citizen of denmark as a citizen of any other country that does NOT produce these products itself. Alternatively one could do this: any fisher pop, cattle pop or farmer pop automatically has his subsistence (survivel) needs covered.
Now about fortresses, does anyone bother to build them at all? It is soooo hard to get the highest level and doesnt make much of a difference even then (compared to the HUGE entrancement bonusses and (to big) hill bonusses).
It also bothers me a bit that the AI does not "understand" the naval control of channals (like in the danish straits). In the real world in the 1864 war between denmark and prussia, they didnt try to cross into copenhagen from stralsund (the danish navy would have massacred them), but they walked up and occupied jutland and then made peace (not interest in funen or sjaelland). In the game currently when those wars break out, prussia will put like 200.000 men at stralsund and walk into copenhagen-- it doesnt understand the principle in getting military access through mecklanburgh and then entering denmark that way. Instead those 200.000 troops will stand there and wait till the danish fleet leaves (the danish AI stupidly does this) the straits so they can cross and take all sorts of danish provinces they never did in real life
A human playing Denmark can survive the prussian wars with army and naval maintenance at minimum, simply place the navy in the straits and nothing ever happens, sorta stupid imho!
Apart from that there's a few things about the AI that is really good and looks human. It is when they place garrisons on all provinces bordering their enemies- also it's nice to see the AI only attacking when (with army) the odds seem good (like a human only would)- but with their navies they often engange in stupid battles where they loose constantly. Also cool that the AI very effectively uses encirclement when it attacks- a shame it make so little difference in many cases due to the HUGE defence bonusses.
Just a few things that bothers me
