When you are writing the description part of an event, will it hurt to put some line breaks for easier viewing in browsers? How does the EU2 engine interpret line breaks?? Thanks in advance!

I'm sure I had other stuff to ask, but I'm too tired to think now :D

Are you writing the descriptions in the actual events or in the Text.csv?

Id suggest you write them in the text.csv...

I dont think you need to put in line breaks - if you are viewing the text.csv in excel just write in clear individual sentences and use one cell for each.
Same goes if your viewing the text.csv in word - write in normal clear sentences like you normally would...

I'm confused! (gah, the second time today :((( )
A Japanese eventdescription from text.csv
EVENTHIST6952;"The ever superstious Ashikaga Yoshinori has ordered the collection of the countless waka (31 syllable poems) in Japan./n They were usually used as magical charms and as prayers to the gods. The two people responsible for the collection, Asukai Masayo and Kaigojokoin Gyokosozu, continued collecting until the Age of Security"" ended in 1438. The result was last litterary work of the Shogunate commissioned the ""Shinzokukokinwakashu"".""";;;;;;;;;;12078

Don't know if it will work in the normal description, but it might be worth a try...

I'm writing them in actual events. Seems easier for editing purposes etc. I don't need to put them anyway, but I would want to so that I can view the descriptions of events properly in a browser. :) Thanks anyway! :)

I write them in the events too, but be aware that the event description can't be as long in the actual events as if you wrote it in text.csv. Don't ask why.

Thanks to everyone for the tips they've provided, but that wasn't what I was looking for :D.

Look at this file: http://balkans.web1000.com/db/events/ser_major.txt Do you see how you have to scroll left/right to be able to read the descriptions of the events?? So, can I put a line break in the description, so I would be able to normally see them in a browser. Can I do so, without the game engine seeing those line breaks?? I hope I explained enough now :D

I don't think you can. Putting a newline inside a string usually causes bad things to happen. You could put HTML code in but then you would see that code in-game. It's roughly just like C/C++: newline is interpreted equivalent to tab/space/FF/etc. ("whitespace") anywhere EXCEPT within a string. Why do you want to view it in a browser instead of an editor that does line wrap for you? Even viewing with a browser you can select "view|source" to open the page in notepad/wordpad which will give you line wrap.
