So I've pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition or whatever it's called, gotta my special stuff from it, and am excited to all heck about actual release of the game. However I have some concerns about the game itself.
1. Will it be entirely Steam-Reliant/Launcher-Based? Either way tends to be a nuisance for me, especially when I'm traveling without access to the internet.
2. Is it done in the same horrendous launching engine as Wizard Wars? If so it's going to be a source of a lot of frustration for me due to random and inconsistent compatibility errors that plague the game even through steam launching.
3. Has anything from the prior game been kept consistent through to this game? I'm not talking mechanics-wise entirely, even. The original game had quite some memorable characters, and a lot of humorous dialogue from them. I'd like to see characters like the Headmaster and Vlad return in similar roles, perhaps even an appearance by Grimnir!
4. This whole robe system, it is both interesting and concerning to me. Does this mean the original robes from the first one will not be implemented? I for one was hoping to see updated versions of them from this second game, especially the 'Dr. Terrible' and 'Which Dr.' from the original. Not to mention that while this gives a lot of potential for creation, I am also worried about a lack of distinction. Wizard Wars has a lot of robes, yes, but the only real call-back in them are the special robes of the Headmaster. I would love to have Grimnir's robes as an outfit in both (he seriously has the best look ever).
5. Compatibility is also a concern for me. The original game as well as Wizard Wars is exclusive to PC, Mac users are out of luck. Not to mention lower-end users who still rely on DirectX lower versions...
6. I know this is a weird issue, but any chance of modding was basically blown away in the original, and Wizard Wars is outright unfathomably hostile to anything out of the ordinary to it's filesystem. Speaking of file system, Wizard Wars has one of the worst I have ever seen, the random nature of the file-names and lack of extensions makes any troubleshooting completely impossible.
7. Lastly, I would love to see a 'remake' of the DLC 'The Stars Are Left' from the original Magicka. That was my favorite thing and it was just DLC.
