None of the iberian Kingdoms are big.Just keep Portugal make sure you have ALL the dejure counties of the Duchies.(in Iberia)So the Duchies will Drift into Portugal. It is just a matter of choice as to how many vassals you want to deal with.

The faction system onlyREALLY works in a single Kingdom that is mostly De Jure otherwise the mechanics screw up.I played an HRE game(Count to HRE Emperor) and had many of the problems you are describing.(HRE had invaded Iberia and N Africa before i became Emperor) Basically you have to think when expanding to what is next door as opposed to what is within reach and weak.

This enables me to gift vassals and receive a much larger relation boost. There is a thread on this forum where a developer mentions what triggers an actual revolt (above 33%? faction power).

I think it will be changed to 33% in 1.08 and is currently 25%. That is for Independence factions, other factions already need a higher power to fire.

I don't think the +80 is set in stone as spymasters can scheme such vassals into factions from what I've read.

The duke he's talking about started the faction though, so unless he sent his spymaster to blackmail himself so he'd join his own faction I don't think scheming is involved.

hahahah, damn this game :D

I finally managed to get one of my sons a reasonably large amount of holdings, and I passed 2 duchies and the kingdom of Portugal to him (approximately the current size of Portugal). Then I went on my merry way crusading for Jerusalem.

A couple of years later one of my former Dukes in Portugal reports back to me that they're going to try to dethrone my son and hand back the kingdom to me... damn loyalists..

Finally you manage to secure a nice throne for one of your sons and hope to have an ally for life, and the damn vassals try to mess it up again :p

edit:

I finished (and won) the Crusade for Jerusalem. The rebellion within the Frisia created kingdom of Portugal is not yet over. Now I have another Kingdom to decide what to do with.
Not sure yet what I'll do with it, either pass everything to someone of my bloodline and let them figure it out, pass it off to the papacy, or keep it for myself.

The old king is still hanging on for dear life as well.. this guy just won't die!

Any tips on how to handle this new situation? Love how the game keeps throwing stuff in your face :)
