Great work again guys, the version is slowly becoming fir for the final release. Special praises for graphic models, the guy who did them is a genius.
Now to some observation/questions, I tried a new game yesterday with SU, followed a hist. path, so far I got to october 1939:

1. Bug in Air doctrine tech tree, the first Air Superiority doctrine isn't named at all and lack description (I believe it is a known bug already)

2. Bug in Aircraft tree, Esc. F. and Fighter positions are mixed up (known too, I believe)

3. I still can't perform Air supply missions and I can't find a tech that would unlock them

4. SU doesn't get new Air doctrine tech team after the purges like it should. The old guy is removed, but the new one doesn't show up (at least not until october 1939).

5. I still think that the "War with Poland" event should be removed. It:
a) is not realistic at all, it is higly questionable if SU would march into Poland if Germans wouldn't own the Poles (highly unlikely but still). Not to mention that despite the fact that Soviet troops did march into Poland they did it without DOW. So the solution with German's annex and ceding provinces is far better and, more important, far more realistic.
b) It cancels all trade deals with allies (since they are allied with Poland and you go to war with them). What's more, you can even have (or are forced into) some skirmishes with them (highly unrealistic). For example, just as Geramny attacked Poland I was sending some ships from Black sea to Vladivostok. They got attacked by UK and most of them were sunk. For nothing but the "game reasons".
c) In the event it says that the purpose of SU's DOW on Poland is to help Germany. Germany doesn't need any help with dealing with the Poles. Not to mention it is virtually impossible to play with Poles now, as from sept. 1 1939 you are attacked by Germany and SU... Mind you, Poland is one of the preffered play options/countries in the game...

6. The names of Russian tanks are somehow strange. Under the light tank section there isn't T 26 (one of the best light tank of interwar period) to be found. Light tank brigade is incorrectly using KV-2 tanks. KV-2 were inf. support tanks but they were not light at all since they were build on the chassis of a KV-1 with a huge turret with a 15.2 cm howitzer. T-27 could be used as an early light tank birgade (Russian adaptation of the British tankette Carden-Lyod VI.Total production of 4000 units between 1931 and 1941). Some other featured models are also somehow strange and could be replaced with better ones but I can't point them out right now (as I'm not home at the moment). If you need any help with infos. on tanks I can be of some use... Also some tanks lack pictures, I can help here too.
7. Russian tech teams could be leveled up a bit (especially Tupolov and that tank making factory).

8. Introducing new air school techs. in aircraft tech tree is great but it raises the number of researchable tech's by 6 or maybe even more.

9. Air doctrines tech tree - last and most advanced techs. are historically available as early as in 1941. Is this correct?

10. Picture of semi motorized cavalry divison is incorrect, it is a picture of air cavalry (with helicopters).

11. Quick question on baltic states. I choose "baltic states into my sphere of influence, all those events happened to them too, but I didn't get their land nor I can demand provinces from them. I did cede Wilnus to Latvia. I just remebere they could've been made puppets but I can't check right now. Is this correct?

12. I'm not sure but as I recall the prewar SU is without any peactime modifiers. Their IC output is in any case very very high (even base, it should be lowered so SU would have to commit major resources into industrialization) so you can field an enormous army as early as in 1939 which is not realistic. SU should receive some bigger penalties as they were somehow struggling in prewar years. Also their starting land doctrine could be brought down a bit so their army would really be a mess at least until winter war (they could get some blueprints via event then and some later at the start of the great patriotic war).

edit: I noticed you lack info and pics of Russian navy. I can help if you like...

These are just a few things that I can remember right now. Hope they'll be of any use. Otherwise, as I said, the mod is great.

regards

You have to wait. Historically USSR formally annexed them in summer 1940.

1) Have to look into it, I did not notice any bug can you post a pic?

2) What to mean mixed up?

3) The Air Supply mission is turned on in the school techs

4) Luxor?

5) We may have to re-address as in HoI 1 it was a good solution but the trade agreements is something of a pain in HoI 2. Luxor any ideas?

6) Please read through the dev notes on the TRP forums. Light tanks now constitute Infantry support tanks and light tanks. There are two lines of brigades there.

7) You need to convince Luxor

8) Thats the point. There should be more techs than what you can possibly research so you need to prioritize with your strategy.

9) Yes this is correct. Doctrines are being revamped to stand more on a mental basis of the country and not to have any other impact. By the time we reached 1941 there wasnt really any new revolutionary air concepts developed. It just came down to better planes and better training but no new concepts.

10) Known issue and you are the 9999999999 person to report it hehe

11) Luxor

12) We are just about done with the USA economy. I been thinking of putting in some gearing up events for the soviets and having a peactime modifier against them as well.

4) No idea of what he is talking about. There is no tech involved in purge event.

5) Possible solution could be to avoid Poland being allied with UK. A leave alliance just before USSR DOWs Poland should work.

1.Check this out,tech lacks description/name http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b110/Spricar/ScreenSave1.jpg

2. See this pic. Escort fighters are selected in the list although this is really a fighter tech. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b110/Spricar/ScreenSave0.jpg

3.OK

4. SU looses it's air doctrines related tech team (some air general) after purges (as in vanilla), but the new one doesn't show up. Look at list of SU tech teams, notice that there aren't any air doctrines tech teams:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b110/Spricar/ScreenSave2.jpg

5. Well, Poland would still be unplayable as it is virtually impossible to fend of German and Russian attack

7. Luxor?

12. That would be great. They really are too powerfull as it is not hard to steamroll over Europe in 1939

7. Luxor?

4. You are confusing things. TRP has NO Vanilla event. Our purge event has no tech team removed and no new are given either. It is intentional. So, what bug are you talking about?

5. So what? Poland's fate was inevitable. Pretty historical. Not going to change this to make Poland a more playable country.

7. Make concrete proposals.

4. If your event has no tech team removed and no new are given either than something other must have gone wrong. After the purges SU lost his only tech team (Air General) that can research air doctrines and no new one appears. As I know tech teams have their end and start date set too. So maybe you kept the end date of an old one (that disappears), but forgot to include or maybe even deleted the start date for another one, the one that should replace the old one after purges. I've send you a screenshot of tech teams and you can see there aren't any Air generals (with pilloting, and other skills )in the list of tech teams. You can try it yourself too. - just run a SU game, check tech teams at begining and then check them after purges - you'll see that new one won't appear.
I'll check end and start date of SU teams when I get home.ž

5. OK, but it is not realistic. SU didn't DOW Poland and they didn't fight their troops too. FInland's fate was inevitable too but they still did put up quite a fight. In another try (if you could "replay" history) maybe Finns would break after couple of weeks, who nows.

7. will do that when I get home, just have to check their current status.

Actually your wrong Spicar the Soviets did fight against Polish troops. There just wasnt many for them to fight as the Poles never expected to be invaded by the Russians and were only prepared to fight the Germans.

Ups...Looks like I uploaded jpgs to photobucket and they have a 250k limit. I'll save them as bmps and upload them again when I get home (2-3 hours). OK?

Do you need any other help with the mod?

I understand that. BUT in the vanilla one of Air generals that was also a tech team "died" after the purge and another one came on his place. This is not the case in TRP as something has gone wrong and SU doesn't get new tech team for researching air doctrines.

It has nothing to do with events, tech teams have their start and end dates set in advance (edit: "the same applies for example, for Udet, he is an air general and a tech team, but he is only available until his death when he is removed from the leader pool AND tech teams list. New tech teams come into his place aftre that (Ricthoffen and another guy) There are numerous other examples of tech temas "sleeping" in the middle of the game and new emerging. One of them is Tukhachevsky, he is also available as a land doctines tech team until purges when he is removed from the list)." ;end of edit
But as I said something is wrong in TRP as SU is left without any tech teams for reserching air doctines after purges. The old one is removed as it should be but its replacement never shows up.

I hope I was clear enough so we understand each other.

Lothos, is the SOV tech team file the same as in Vanilla ?

I sent the screenshots via mail. Hopefully, they'll be bigger.

By the way, I assume it was done on purpose, but still. Land doctrines disable certain Air doctrines. Yet, you're able to research a few technologies ("School of training") related to the deactivated branches.
In case I missed something, could you link me to the developpers' notes? So far I haven't found them. Thanks.

Ldvs yes thats done on purpose. Air Doctrines you are limited to the mentality of the country where as Schools of Training, as you are the leader of the country you can force your pilots to train in a specific area.

OK, for tech teams, this is excerpt from vanilla sov file:

3716;J.I.Alksnis;T3716;5;1930;1970;aircraft_testing;piloting;fighter_tactics;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
3717;Alexander Novikov;T3717;6;1940;1970;aircraft_testing;bomber_tactics;fighter_tactics;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
[/SIZE]

As you can see Alexander Novikov should appear in 1940 while Alksnis is there from begining. The same entries are in your tech teams file so everything is Ok and WAD, Alksnis is removed tue to purges and Novikov probably show up in 1940... I'll do some more checking and play until 1940 to be completely sure. I'll post the resuls...
If this is correct there could be some problems as SU is without air doctrines specialist for two years and that could present some serious problems since there are a lot of new "air doctines" technologies + it is somehow unrealistic that their general staff was without any air fighting specialist for more than two years...maybe Novikov should be available right from the start...I can do some research on him if you want.

Lothos, can you give me your E-mail address please so I can send you those ss...

edit: I played until 1940 and indeed Su gains a new tech team on the 1.januar. But the problems stays - Su is without such tech team for over a year (late 1938-1940) so, considering the new system that demands more research in that area it might be good idea to activate him sooner...

Don't bother, I've already sent them to him ;)

Playing as Japan, I noticed the descriptions (the choices work) of the first two events - Kodoha and 2-2-6 Incident - were missing (it reads "Unknown String Wanted" instead), while the London conference appear without problem. There may be more but I haven't gone far into the game yet.

EDIT: I was wondering why Japan starts with a manpower equals 11,000. While such low values are comprehensible for Germany which is supposedly demilitarised, it's quite surprising for Japan (Poland starts with 275K, for example). Did the Japanese face such a remarkable shortage of manpower?

EDIT 2: After check, 11,000 appears to be the available manpower of Kwantung Army at the beginning of the 1936 campaign. Wasn't Japan's low manpower just due to typing the wrong number by mistake, then?
