Hi all.

Just some questions.
1. Will the names of Germanic characters be represented in Proto-Germanic?
2. Is splitting Germanic peoples into multiple groups a viable idea considering the game's timeframe? They all had the same culture and language at that time and remained more or less homogenous well into the common era. The East Germanic peoples split first and then North Germanic languages slowly started splitting from West Germanic languages but could still be considered the same ethnolinguistic group until AD 500-600.
3. Will lesser nations (Germanic and Celtic tribes) have their own mecanics?

I'd like to point out two things for #2:
First of all, balance is something that's important in all games. Having all Germans in one single culture group would be quite unbalanced, as all others are divided into several sub-groups.

Culture doesn't correspond to language, though. It certainly is one part of culture, but you have to take other things into account, too. Archeology has shown that there was a variety of different burial rituals, of art and of other factors, so I don't think that splitting the Germans is too far off from reality.

We already see some Germanbic names in the press review plays. No they use modernized Proto-Germanic names.

Also... do you really think the Germans were a completelly united state just because they spoke the same language? All the Greeks spoke the same language and they were not united, why should the Germans be?

No, I don't think they should be united :)

Ok, i have just noticed separate cultural groups for Celtic peoples and the Greeks so having them for Germanic people as well should not be a big deal.
