Hi everyone,

I am playing as Spain and I have some questions.
I am 7th. It is 1970 and in one year I will be able to start to colonize. I had thought in Nigeria (from Togo to Portuguese Angola) and Indonesia / Pacific Islands.
What would you recommend me?

I had the 'colonial recruitment' event, which gives you two options:
1. Increase life rating, population growth +1%, assimilation rating and attracting immigration in one of the colonies.
2. Increase pop_growth +1% in one of the states.
I chose the first one and some time later, Luzon had 1,5M. It allowed me to have more soldiers and increase my military score but... Since I am playing as Spain and its population is so low, shouldn't I have chosen the second one to increase my industrial score in a industrialized state in mainland?
What would you have chosen in this situation?

Thanks in advance!

The Pacific islands are going to be useful ONLY for prestige. They don't have many POPs and their RGOs are kinda useless. It might be better to spend the colony points on the middle of Africa, from West to East, because they're much better in that regard.

I would've chosen option 2, as it would result in more POPs at home. State POPs give you more money and such than colonial ones.

Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo, Kenya and Tanzania are the best colonies to have in Africa. In Asia, Borneo is quite good, but since the Netherlands will most likely try to colonize it, your colonial points will be better spent in Africa. As soon as you are done colonizing, you should attack South-East Asia if able. There is no such thing as too much Rubber.

Concerning the event you had, most of the time the state option is the better one. The few exceptions are when you will eventually be able to turn the colony into a state or when the colony have very good RGO but a small population.

MittleAfrika is pretty much the winning move with African colonization.

in a future runthrough, its a good idea to eat some of sokoto (assuming vanilla) since it opens more land to quick colonization once the scramble begins

Pretty borders are important, but them RGOs are more important and africa is a horrorshow of terrible in vicky2.

On that note, also eat a bit of Ethiopia and the south west most egyptian province. Gives you a good foothold on blocking in all of Africa.
