I'm just going to compile a few small changes for Megacorps I've seen suggested recently. Feel free to add more.

  1. Make Idealogy Wars for Megacorps not create direct competition in the form of another Megacorp. Either this, or provide another cassus beli that transforms the attacked empire into the "perfect host state." As of right now, there's little to do about a rival megacorp besides outright conquest.
  2. Integrate into the current Expansion Planner room for potential Branch Offices. As it is right now, looking for potential spots is extremely tedious, to the point where I just stop.
  3. Allow resources from Branch Office Buildings to scale based off of the tech/bonuses of the local empire. This is how I believe it's *supposed* to work, but the only resource that tends to get this bonus is Unity. So, for example, when an empire has bonuses to researcher output, boost the research production of private labs in their territory.
  4. Allow Megacorps to declare Hostile Takeover wars to steal Branch Offices contained in their Subsidiary's space. As of right now, there's no way to do so due to a lack of a commercial pact. Either this, or change Subsidiary status to automatically establish branches of the overlord empire onto the planets of the subject, replacing any existing branches belonging to another empire.
  5. Allow Criminal Heritage Megacorps to declare Hostile Takeover wars. They're criminals.
  6. Reduce the cost of Criminal Heritage branch office establishment. They're geared towards creating temporary branches already, but the costs can get very high, especially without access to the Universal Transactions ascension perk.

A Subsidiary should automatically give you branch Offices on all their planets demolishing the competition. Hostile takeover should be usable on any non-subsidary empire to get any Branch Offices in empires you have a commercial pact with.

I disagree with Criminal Heritage getting hostile takeover wars. I would give criminal Heritage extra espionage operations to corrupt and bribe leaders, and build up their criminal network in an empire, increasing crime as a whole, they can also use the raid option which destroys a opposing branch office.

I like your suggestion about criminals better.

I wanted to suggest 2, but saw that you have done so in this post already. Having an expansion planner tab for branch offices is rather important in my opinion.

I am currently playing a megacorp again and finding places for branchoffices is very annyoing to the point it's not that fun anymore. Especially if there are rival megacorps and when playing as a criminal heritage megacorp since you have to rebuild branch offices every now and then.

I also think it might be in the scope with the custodians. Even tho it there would need to be at least tweaks to ui, which I guess can be a bit of work.

I was pretty disappointed when I didn't see it in the most recent dev diary, as it would most definitely be a QOL feature.

What I've been doing to help with this is releasing single-system subsidiaries to take branches for me. I get 25% of their profits, and I don't need to pay most of the energy and any of the influence costs associated, nor do I need to constantly search around. Another fun fact about subsidiaries: they can build branch offices anywhere they want, regardless of commercial pacts, whether or not they're a criminal.
