Yea... I don't care for Japans political side of the tree. Like the four ideologys things are very lazily done imo. America just can't be made fun to play really because they are railraoded into a 1940ish start which makes sense. Maybe if they let you start going facist immediatly and have to deal with a ton of events? That'd be fun.

But alot of the vocal part of these forums rail on the 'meme' paths like Byzantium and Roman Empire and Ottoamans. So its also that for them.
I feel like the easiest way to make the communist and fascist USA routes more plausible is to make them only possible through the democratic USA losing the civil war from the branch that leans the other way (so the democratic USA losing the civil war in the left-wing route is the only way to go fully fascist and the democratic USA losing the civil war in the right-wing route is the only way to go fully communist) and winning the civil war as the democratic USA only gives a bonus to acceptance of communist/fascist diplomacy and an option to join the Comintern/Axis as appropriate. The important part here is that it takes away the idea of the major American political parties actively supporting the CPUSA or Silver Legion and makes full-scale ideology change a backlash against certain not-completely-implausible policies rather than naturally flowing from them.

The civil war thing is already there. To go facist you pick the Republicans and go for america first and get a civil war to rise up as the confederates. Left wing civil war for communism.

My point (and many others' as well) is that the current setup is bad and implies that the Democrats are/were basically communists and that the Republicans are/were basically fascists and that either would bother allying with fringe parties like the CPUSA or Silver Legion. It's essentially taking a gross exaggeration of modern American politics and applying that to the 1930s.

It's not saying that the Democrats or Republicans are communist or Facist. It is just the way the path works as its not the republicans who go to war, but the Silver Legion of America that rise up against the Republicans and vice versa for the communists.
