It looks cool, but the names shouldn't be scaled with country size as much. Persia, Nejd, Egypt and China are too big... I cant even imagine what Russia would look like... I think the font size used in, say Oman, should be the biggest used in any country.

But overall it's another cool feature. The map is beautiful.

Agreed. If the font size was scaled, but capped at about the size of Yemen/Oman, that would help no end. There also needs to be more space between the name and national borders, to stop it looking too crowded. Basically Yemen is perfect as is, that's the balance you should go for with the rest.

That said, it's a neat idea.

Might be problematic with small but powerful countries.

i know, i was goint to edit that to specify that you just have to set a minimum and a maximum font size and don't limit the name by the country borders. but the result would be much more helpfull.

Maybe its deliberate - so that the game can be sold in China

Actually Vic 1 has an Asian version (still in English), called Empire under the Sun with Dr. Sun Yat-sen (the "founder" of the Chinese Republic) as cover.

Back to topic, the fonts are a bit too comical and "China" can be smaller...
What would happen to Russia if China's fonts are that big?

If we're going to get this feature, can we have a bonus one that exports the entire map out as a 'stitched together' screenshot? You couldn't manually stitch together screenies in EUIII because the edges wouldn't match up because the angle changed.

It would be great if CTRL-F12 or something rendered the whole map out as single giant screenshot.

IIRC there is a function like that in EU3 and HoI3 (see AAR section for those games), though off the top of my head can not recall the actual key combo to do it, IIRC it's F12 but not 100% sure. But if it is in both those, then no reason it won't likely be in V2 as well.

Must say Pdox game maps look really professional nowadays (though IMO they surpassed the 2D versions already in HoI3)...

The map looks great! However, the modern borders used for provinces in the Middle East looks, well pretty bad I think. I didn't think it would be that bad but the Ottoman Empire just looks screwed up when those modern borders of Iraq and Syria are used. :wacko:

Perhaps, though given the elasticity of the "border" between direct Ottoman control and the Beduin tribal areas in the deserts, it's as good as any, especially as anyone wanting to make a mod for the post-1918 era will find those borders highly appropriate.

it's accurate though. the game just happend to start in a date when Egypt was the lead gamer in the middle east. this only lasted for a an approximate 10 years period though, after foreign intervention in the Oriental Crisis.

IIRC, Egypt controled Hejaz by 1836, after putting down the Whabbi rebellion. VIP had this region under Egyptian rule, which i think was a right decision as the Wahabi rebellion was put down by then.

Please please please make the size customisable, there is far too little support for what I want: the country name pasted right across your entire territory

Words should be kept smaller, perhaps you can replicate how the 19th century map makers mark their map.



P.S Imagine the word expanding along with the zoom out, when u are looking at RUSSIA filling up the whole north....
