For me it's Rome goes to war.
Battle of Zama is like the soundtrack of a not-so-good and not-so-believable historical movie. The first one is more what I would connect with the Romans.

I voted Zama only because it has a female voice in it and I had to pick one. For what it is worth neither gave me a epic or historical feeling. I'm not saying they were bad since both were pretty good, the soundscapes just did not fit what I envision this title to be. This title is supposed to be the definitive game on Rome is it not? The songs let me thinking I just finished watching a modern TV show. I was expecting something with ethnic instruments and lyrics to be frank.

Rome goes to war. It has the feeling of belonging in the period. Battle of zama could fit just as well with EU3

I thought so too. I think both are pretty good but Rome goes to war has a more "Roman" feel-it reminds me more of the type of song you'd expect in the HBO series Rome, whereas Battle of Zama doesn't really have any uniqueness to it.

@Ebusitanus: I disagree with what you are saying-they tried using "authentic" period music in Eu2, and it sounded awful. I don't care if its authentic, it needs to sound good. I haven't heard real Roman music before but if its anything like authentic crusader era or medieval music, no thanks.

Well, its a good thing that the engine, I'm assuming it will be similar to EU3, uses MP3s. Just put your favorite songs in the Music folder in the EU:R directory and enjoy. I know I probably will. :)

first one sounds like something that would go well with crusader kings. It has an Arabic flavor and not really Rome at all.

2nd
It sounds much more "Roman like", but as some other people have said, would go well in EU era.

In my opinion, the first is better, but has a wrong tittle. ;)

Zama, definitely. Rome Goes To War should definitely be renamed either Egypt goes to war, or perhaps the Seleukids go to war. It was okay, but not great. Zama, on the other hand, was just beautiful.

Both really poor in my view. The music has been totally soulless in Paradox games for a while now... IKEAtunes. Get someone else to do your music - or revert to licensing authentic stuff (not so much of an option here, admittedly). Re: Zama, I immediately thought of that HoI2 song as well... Preferred the original in itself, but the fact it's such a straight lift is even more annoying.

Which HoI2 tune are we talking about? :) So I can check my notesheets and check it out. Battle of Zama is 7 minutes long btw, so its a very short preview of that song.

Glad so many others like the previews though.

Thanks for your oppinions

Andreas

Since it's Easter Monday, we've got (almost as usual,should I say :p ) "Ben-Hur" on TV.
Hey, if you want martial Roman music for the game, just listen when there's Quintus Arius triumph in Rome!
It has that powerful and epic feel in it!
