ive not played this game in around a year. i see theres quite a bit of rivalry between certain mods. 1 has more events but worse AI etc. whats the best way to go modwise as i like a challenging game but i also love all the events

Well if you are refering to EP having "less" events, allow me to explain how it has less events. In EP I use a minimalist approach to events. That is unless a historic event was significant, I don't usually allow it to be in the mod. To be more specific, I delete any flavor events I find and don't make new ones. I also consolidate events that could be one event but are 2 or 3, in the AGCEEP for example, instead. Now does this mean that EP has far less events than AGCEEP? No. It has less historic events total, but probably actually has more significant historic events overall, as others and myself have added plenty. So if you are afraid that playing EP will result in only an occasional encounter with historical events, be rest assured that is not the case.

try which ones take your fancy. Guarenteed you will either

1) Like one over another: in which case you will continue playing that
2) Like more than one which means you can play which one represents your current mood
3) Like none of them; which should encourage you to make your own :D

EDIT: download both AGCEEP (my favorite of the lot - especially for events) and EP (never tried it so couldnt comment.)

Also AoI is a very beautiful looking mod which you should at least look at if nothing else.
