How did they hold back? They have already said they weren't done when the game went gold. They have been working on them after the game was sent out to be published and produced. To include them in the original copy they would have to hold the game up. Or they could have just took the month off and not done anything to make the game better. Remember, it is your option to buy and it doesn't change the important aspects of the game.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. Either way it horse armour all over again to me.

In the end DLC is about money, which I don't like to say, but the more and more I find out about DLC the clearer it becomes. I hope Pdx doesn't have corporate debt maturing soon or something, lol.

Stupid question, but I just "purchased" HoI 3 from Gamersgate now for the special sprite pack. That counts as "Preordering" correct? It's now on my list of games that I can download when it's released.

I've never used sprites when there was an option for counters...but those are good looking.

How do you know what you have, though? That's always been my question about counters. How do you know one tank sprite represents a single elite armored division that has been weakened to where it's about to crack, and the one next to it represents a Armored Army of five fresh (but green) tank divisions, three veteran mechanized, and four motorized divisions?

How do you know if the carrier is in a 6 dd, 2 lc, 1 carrier CTF, or in the 6th fleet - a 33 ship, 8 carrier flotilla?

That's what confuses me about sprites...but wow, are these pretty.

It might shock you to know that Paradox isn't staffed by gnomes who can magic up food and beer the way they can magic up computer games.

Strangely enough, they need to make money to buy their food and beer, which they can only do if people buy their stuff.

In particular, computer games companies have an issue with their cashflow. The revenue comes in in a big chunk around the release dates of their major titles. The smaller the firm, the bigger this problem is.

So I'm not surprised Paradox are looking for ways to get other income streams for their products.

And ultimately, the better their cashflow, the more they are able to invest in producing future titles. Since I doubt this forums is full of people who dislike or loath Paradox games, surely bigger and better games in future is a good thing?

They're looking definately great!!

What I don't want to have is some kind of "some incomplete sets of sprites here and there".....

If there's a "complete" set of the main countries with some minors, I definately will buy it !!!!

There will be "Build licenses" in the Game, right?

Lets sayEngland buys licenses from USA for the Comet... will the Eng comet sprites look like the USA sprites or the Eng standard sprites?

Pls PI answer me i am just curios, or dont you have a answer? :D

Because really we should have to pay extra for things that should have been released when the game went live right? I mean, it's sprites we're paying for, not an expansion pack or a pack of new scenarios.

Listen, I'm as capitalist as they get, I like seeing them make money, as they should for their hard efforts (the game looks to be epic so far, they are getting my $40 off the bat and probably money for the DLCs too despite my opposition and bitching :p).

I just don't like getting nickeled and dimed to death for things that used to be included in the initial release of games like companies used to back in the day. :)

Back in the day getting a patch for a game was an ordeal, and they came as buggy as they do today. So no thanks on the "good old days" part.

Not for the games I played, and by good old days I mean as recently as a few years ago games were released complete in terms of content and were updated via patches to fix technical issues/exploits/cheats.

Now if we're talking expansion packs thats a whole nother can of worms. :)

So, how are you to decide what should have been in the game? IMO, better / more graphics and music is feature to pay for.

It was said (by Johan, I believe) yesterday that if they hadn't done the "spritepack for blue coins"-deal those sprites would not have existed at all.
So, no, they wouldn't have been there when the game was released.
