Aristocratic isn't as bad as Naval or Espionage, but it's still a bit underwhelming compared to Quality, Quantity and Offensive. It's nearly on par with Defensive IMO, which is a solid idea group. Here's some proposed changes:
If nothing else, getting rid of rebel events and shuffling the order in which ideas are unlocked alone would make the group better. I'm not sure about the suggested replacements for Noble Connections, but I feel like anything will do. Suggestions are welcome.
- Give it better events. Aristocratic events are one of the reasons players consider it unattractive despite the decent idea set. The wealth of rebel events should be removed (IMO this should go for all idea group events) and an event for 50% discounted military advisors could be introduced.
- Change the order of ideas to get more value early on; put Serfdom first, followed by Military Traditions and Noble Knights, the rest can stay the same. 33% manpower is one of the idea group's bigger ideas and I don't think it's unfair to put it first when Quantity does the same with 50%.
- Buff Noble Knights to 15% or 20% Cavalry combat ability
- Replace Noble Connections (+20% mercenary manpower) with something that isn't filler.
- -0.05 war exhaustion
- +10% production efficiency
- -20% military advisor cost, +1 available military advisors
- 10% morale of armies
- 2.5% discipline
- -20% military building (barracks and regimental camps) construction cost
If nothing else, getting rid of rebel events and shuffling the order in which ideas are unlocked alone would make the group better. I'm not sure about the suggested replacements for Noble Connections, but I feel like anything will do. Suggestions are welcome.
