Hello there, I'd like to give an idea about a possible rework in the Brazilian states and their provinces, so I made these photo montages showing how the Brazilian states division really was.

I would like you to take this into account for a future DLC or something like that, I am writing this because I found it a bit out of balance that the US has its 50 states, just like the USSR and Brazil does not have its 21.

In the south there are three states: Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná.

In the southeast there are four states: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.

In the northeast there are nine states: Bahia, Sergipe, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Piauí and Maranhão.
Estados do Nordeste.png

Three states were located in the north of Brazil: Amazonas, Pará and the Territory of Acre (Acre is a state with a territorial claim for Bolivia).

The US doesn't have its fifty states, though. They combined Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island into one state; and then Virginia and West Virginia into one state. So, 44 states; or 45 if you count Puerto Rico which isn't a state IRL but can be one in the game.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Brazil's in-game map could use some work, but there's really not much of a reason to give it too many states. The US has as many states it does ingame because they need to pad out the US' factory count, and it's already still incredibly low compared to what America's real life production capacity was. Brazil with the states it already has in game now, OTOH, already has a far, far greater industrial capacity than it had in real life.

I second this. I always appreciate it when players from different countries offer suggestions as to how to improve the historicity of their countries in HOI4, but I don't feel like Brazil needs too many more states. If there are any regions of Brazil or elsewhere that had/have had historic secessionist sentiment though, I would be all for those areas of the map being redrawn to allow for the possibility of more releasable nations or puppets that could be carved out after a war.

In my opinion, the area of the Americas that needs a provincial rework is Canada. The northern borders of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario are all arbitrarily cut off to make more room for the northernmost provinces. I don't understand why they did this and would love to see it fixed in the upcoming updates.

About separatism, we had several: São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina, Pernambuco, Bahia, Rio de Janeiro among other northeast states. There are several separatist movements in Brazil until today, there have always been, since the colonial period. Keeping such a large country united was not easy. To get an idea, before the second war began, the state of São Paulo rebelled in 1930.

Brazil's in-game map could use some work, but there's really not much of a reason to give it too many states. To solve this problem it would be enough to limit the northern states to 5 construction spaces and the central ones to 10 and the northeastern ones to 12. This way these states would not open slots beyond that.

There are also several claims of Brazilian territories by other nations, Bolivia for example claims the territory of Acre(one of the 27 Brazilian states, in the past was called the territory of Acre, currently only Acre), Argentina claims Rio Grande do Sul. Brazil claims French Guiana (this province was taken from Brazil during the regential period of the Portuguese crown). In the end, Latin America was the scene of many territorial disputes and revolutions.

I believe that a reworking of the provinces would be enough, making the creation of a mod that remakes these states easier. I don't think more states are needed for Brazil.

Which is a pity. The game would be better if the small states were implemented as well. (more flavour). The already implemented province borders would allow to do split off West Virginia and Delaware and split New England in 6 states without problems.
