Hello world,
Im not by any mean a veteran of the Europa universalis franchise,
in this thread i wanted to share some of my experience and comments with the rest of the community.

In this game i am playing as France.
i wanted to exit the game in 1638 but then decided to continue on to check how the tech tree builds up and ended up leaving the game in 1685

The world map in 1638
eu4_map_FRA_1638_10_02_1.jpg

Europe political map
eu4_1.jpg

-Poland formed the commonwealth in the early game start.
This was a great opportunity to see how the clash of the titans to the east would go.
-Flanders was independent as usual and then in the mid game Netherlands was a good nation with colonization , it had many wars with France and surprisingly it didn't die.But then came old Austria and took it down.
-I only minded my own business , didn't go to wars at all , except for a couple of 2 which Milan and savoy dragged me in , but didn't fight at all.
-The ottomans are strong , they didn't manage to complete their mission to conquer Mameluks in 1 time so they are doing it by chunks.
-Milan is in PU with me and savoy is in Spain's PU.
-Note the overgrown trier and note Pomerania ?!

Terra incognito
eu4_3.jpg

-Note Portugal colonial holdings in south and central america.

Number of provinces Comparison
eu4_8.jpg

-first place is Spain with a whooping 103 colonial provinces (to be more whooping afterwards) then comes continental Russia , then the continental Commonwealth (pink) and Portugal with around 58 provinces then the good old cozy almost historical France.
-Note that i didn't expand at all , apart from snagging Flanders when it became independent and then hainatu when they had the nationalist release them from Austria , apart from that i kept my natural France borders, with no colonization , no expansion and no diplomatic expansion (which seems non existing in the game)

Country comparison
eu4_7.jpg

-i have the highest income 177 ducats followed by Spain's 107 , and i had the highest administrative and military ranking , 3rd diplomatic ranking in the world and by the looks of it the biggest treasury the world have ever seen.
i know that it seems i was in the new world tech group since they are the only ones amassing gold , but this points out a big issue , in the endgame money will not be an issue for larger countries or countries that focus on building their income , but the real issue will be in the points to accumulate to do stuff.

The economy
eu4_9.jpg

-i was production oriented and paid little attention to trade modifier via diplomatic technology level (intentionally lagged behind by selecting diplomatic consuming ideas in the tech tab) but its modifier was higher than that of taxation although the outcome was not that much different.

The Trade Tab
eu4_10.jpg

-a lot of trade power and little trade income.

Technolgy
eu4_12.jpg

Ideas
eu4_13.jpg

-you can guess the order of my Ideas :)

Trade Vs production
The Mint
eu4_19.jpg

The post office
eu4_18.jpg

Trade line buildings > Production line buildings
well the post office is better than the stock exchange which is tier 6 production building

Catholics are always having problem staying Catholics
eu4_25.jpg

The comet is back !
eu4_29.jpg

Many types found , Here's something wrong
eu4_35.jpg

The "Portugal just disappeared to thin air event"
eu4_39.jpg

-I was looking when i noticed that Portugal had a steep fall in the number of provinces but to my surprise i didn't find it , i haven't checked if it was in a PU with Spain because its holdings went to Spain .

The "i don't know where did they come from"
View attachment 87564

-A strong continental and a massive colonial Spain which swallowed Portugal had just released catalunya , i hadn't anything with this twist of event but yet they say i helped them and yeah , relations were 200 but for some reason they jumped back to 175.

Country Ranking in 1684
eu4_41.jpg

-even after becoming a super power with 200+ provinces compared to my 50 provinces or so , France still has the most men compared to Russia , and the most income compared to Spain.
and that's with the no colonization and not conquering behind the borders of modern France (almost)

I couldnt post the last score screen after leaving the game because of the size of the pictures

there are some stuff that i wanted to point out and they were included in this conversation with a friend of mine who willingly accepted that i post this in here for the good of the game and the community.

12:08 AM - Roknah: what do you think about eu4?
12:08 AM - Ali: i played till 1685
12:08 AM - Ali: many things to tune
12:09 AM - Ali: the game is horribly lagging after 1650
12:09 AM - Ali: all these armies moving
12:09 AM - Ali: i turned off the antialiasing
12:09 AM - Ali: multisampling
12:09 AM - Ali: to 0
12:09 AM - Ali: no shadows
12:09 AM - Ali: not trees and no borders
12:09 AM - Ali: still the same
12:10 AM - Ali: i was running at speed max and it lagged at speed 4 also
12:10 AM - Ali: i played as france
12:10 AM - Roknah: i think i buy it when its on sale
12:10 AM - Ali: i didnt go to wars at all and not colonized
12:10 AM - Roknah: i took austria
12:11 AM - Ali: the cost for building the building with administrative points or military or diplomatic should be scaled
12:11 AM - Ali: so pay more for the unique buildings and less for the common ones
12:11 AM - Ali: not a standard 10 for everyhting
12:12 AM - Roknah: wait i take a closer look at this
12:12 AM - Ali: there are some bugs here and there , some fonts errors and some typos
12:12 AM - Ali: there is a serious missbalance between trade and production , the first being much more lucarative
12:13 AM - Ali: when i was building the trade line buildings they ended up being much more profitable than those of the production line buildings
12:13 AM - Ali: also
12:13 AM - Ali: the manufacturies (of iron clothes and naval equipment etc ) are prettty useless
12:14 AM - Ali: they end up adding their bonus later on
12:15 AM - Ali: when you add other buildings and stuff
12:15 AM - Ali: btw
12:15 AM - Ali: you citis dont grow by themselves like they did in eu3 wich is annoying
12:15 AM - Ali: i hate that
12:16 AM - Ali: later on , what hinders you is not money
12:16 AM - Ali: its the lack of the points
12:16 AM - Roknah: will the real game start at 1399?
12:16 AM - Ali: i had around 52 000 ducats and 260 000 men in the army ppol
12:17 AM - Ali: no the 1444 start
12:17 AM - Ali: the demo one
12:17 AM - Roknah: lol they havent even changed the building icons from eu3
12:17 AM - Ali: the technologies need some fixing also
12:18 AM - Ali: also , expanding is a REAL pain in the ass
12:18 AM - Ali: they should do something for the agressive expansion penalty that adds up
12:19 AM - Ali: and its not like eu3 where you can PU more easily
12:19 AM - Roknah: will you buy it?
12:19 AM - Ali: mm
12:19 AM - Ali: i still havend decided yet
12:19 AM - Ali: last day to decide
12:19 AM - Ali: i kinda love the gifts with it
12:20 AM - Ali: also i had some weird thing
12:20 AM - Roknah: what means PU?
12:21 AM - Ali: portugal was a 64 province colonial empire and the nziltch it disappeared to spain
12:21 AM - Ali: personal union
12:21 AM - Roknah: well i already have crusader kings
12:21 AM - Ali: same
12:21 AM - Roknah: and i dont know any person who would play it
12:23 AM - Ali: lol i used to
12:23 AM - Ali: but i didnt like it
12:24 AM - Ali: i played as brandenburg also
12:24 AM - Ali: talk about being sandwiched
12:25 AM - Ali: the way the game is , makes expanding a hell
12:25 AM - Roknah: i used to play brandenburg always in eu3
12:25 AM - Ali: its not that difficult for larger nations
12:25 AM - Ali: but for smaller nations its a living hell to do it
12:25 AM - Ali: brandengurg is hard to play in eu3
12:25 AM - Ali: but to expand in eu4 as brandenburg is like mission impossible
12:27 AM - Ali: what nation are yoou playing as now ?
12:28 AM - Roknah: austria but i only took a closer look on technology and building
12:29 AM - Roknah: is there a kind of reputation system like in eu3?
12:29 AM - Ali: no
12:29 AM - Ali: there are temporarly relations that are added
12:29 AM - Ali: so
12:30 AM - Ali: lets say that you had a royal marriage and then ended up using that to claim the throne
12:30 AM - Ali: then the neighboring countries will have an added relation of -50
12:31 AM - Ali: wich states that "used royal marriage to claim throne"
12:31 AM - Ali: this -50
12:31 AM - Ali: will decay over time
12:31 AM - Ali: like +2.5 per year
12:31 AM - Ali: untill its finished
12:31 AM - Ali: agressive expandion adds alot
12:31 AM - Ali: and by alot
12:31 AM - Ali: i mean like -68
12:32 AM - Ali: and thats even if you had claimed some provinces like you do in ck2
12:32 AM - Ali: so
12:33 AM - Ali: wars and you start having coalitions against you
12:33 AM - Ali: i still dont know whats the best way to expand
12:35 AM - Ali: austria is hard
12:35 AM - Ali: with the HRE
12:36 AM - Ali: and wars all aorund you
12:36 AM - Ali: but what you can do is the following
12:36 AM - Ali: wait for someone to get a bit bigger in the HRE
12:36 AM - Ali: then PU him
12:36 AM - Ali: and then integrate it
12:36 AM - Ali: but i still dont know if integrating will give you cores on his lands since you are in the HRE
12:37 AM - Ali: but it should
12:37 AM - Ali: since it used to do that in eu3
12:40 AM - Ali: anyway
12:41 AM - Ali: what are your plans for tonight ?
12:41 AM - Roknah: i do nothing at the moment
12:43 AM - Ali: im typing a post in the paradox plaza forums about the stuff that we just discussed
12:43 AM - Ali: do you mind if i used some non edited parts of our conversation over there
12:43 AM - Ali: ?
12:44 AM - Roknah: no problem
12:44 AM - Roknah: i think its in our both interest cause it could make the game better for us
12:45 AM - Ali: ok cool

How is this the demo? Am I missing something?

It's the demo but it's not, he did some editing of files.

And why expect the game to run 100% when it's a demo and the full release(especially if you did editing)? Your input is not really that useful on that front.
The aggressive penalty is more than fine, he just didn't manage it properly.
Manufacturies useless? o_O

i consider the demo the light version of the game where everything should be running as smooth as possible for the people to be convinced by the running game. that said , the lag doesn't start until after there are a lot of armies wandering about(especially after mass colonization of the Americas by colonial states).and even at very low graphic settings.
i paid 900 ducats for the factories, and their added bonus compared to their price wast as close as that of the trade specialized buildings wich cost less.
the aggressive penalty is fine as long as its not overly aggressive.
PUing a small nation costs the same aggression penalty as annexing it.
as for the claims , they don't offer that much help in lessening the effect of expansion , but its still not that much of an issue.

Your criticism is mostly related to things that you either don,t understand or that we're already in EUIII ...

The on.y valid point seems to be the accumulating money at the end, I can actually foresee that

45k in the treasury? Wow something is unbalanced there

General warning, there are several posts in here showing screens and discussing playing with countries not available in the demo, or beyond the end date of the demo.

Please note that anyone doing so will be banned, as this is considered piracy. If you are in any doubt, refer to the forum rules before posting.

If you have any questions, send them by PM, do not reply to this message.

The rules the thread is going to get removed I assume?
