I'm having a hard time finding a use for Solar power plants.

They may be clean energy but as soon as night comes they stop producing.

Why do they even exist in the game?

Whats the point of using them if I'm just going to get blackouts at night?

Surely they must have some use like isn't there a way to store power?

They produce about 70% of the daytime power if I am not mistaken. The solar energy is stored as heat and continues to be used at night.

That feature with night time power was introduced with an update patch so maybe they just didn't alter the description. Also we aware that bad weather can also affect their performance, like it can affect wind turbines.

There is little reason to mod solar plants for night unless you modded night to also use more power. My last city was almost entirely solar and I was still reducing the night budget for power.
