House Greyjoy
Lord Rodrik The Bearded- Lord Rodrik was born as a salt son of Dalton Greyjoy aka The Red Kraken. Over the course of the Dance of Dragons Rodrik was given command of several of his father's ships and raided the Sunset Sea along with his father. Following the murder of the old man, Rodrik returned to Pyke. Only in time to help defend against the invasion of the island by the forces of House Lannister and the Reach. He managed to escape Pyke and helped lead resistance throughout the islands. When the invasion ended Rodrik gathered his remaining brothers and demanded their allegiance. Some knelt others fled and Rodrik spent several years killing off one half brother after another with his crew. By the age of 34 Rodrik rose to become the Lord of all the Iron Isles and after the death of Baelor the...inept.
(Skilled Tactician)

Anna Greyjoy- The wife of Lord Rodrik Anna was born a commoner in the Westerlands. On a raid Rodrik turned up the wench and found her to be of exceptional beauty, and therefore decided to carry her of into captivity. She served as his Salt Wife for many years however in time genuine love grew between the two and after the birth of their first child Rodrik decided to marry her.

Maron Greyjoy-
The first born son of Rodrik and Anna, Maron is 16 years of age and is a constant frustration to his father. From a young age the boy showed more of an interest in the priests of the Drowned God then in the affairs of sword and shield. While Rodrik is a traditional man he would not be said to have much love for the Drowned God, Maron however will spend entire days down at the beach watching the holy men perform rituals. As such the relationship between the is strained however many on the Isle are confident should worst come to worst Maron will serve his father well.

Asha and Jaime Greyjoy- Asha and Jaime Greyjoy are twins, born of Anna and Rodrik's union the two now number 14 years of age. The two share a great love for one another however they could not be less alike. Jaime has shown great interest in the arts of sword and shield while Asha seems more interested in the cultures of far off lands such as Essos and Sothyros as well as the political landscape in Westeros and the Iron Isles. Both girls are invaluable to their father who prizes them far above the rest of his children.

Salt Children- Over the course of his life Rodrik has bore over a dozen salt children some of whom live on Pyke some live in far off places such as the Free Cities of Essos. All of them are an annoyance to Rodrik and he generally pretends that none of them exist.

House Arryn
"As High as Honor"

Lord Petyr Arryn (Age 40) (Steward): The grandson of Lady Jeyne Arryn, Petyr came into this world at the end of the Dance of Dragons. His knack for numbers and calculations was noticed at a young age and he spent many hours working with the Maester on complex problems. These skills were only matched by his shrewdness and careful investing. He was always looking to make the most coin and many in the Vale joked that he'd sell his own mother if he could. Much of his childhood was passed quietly in the Eyrie, with his parents rarely allowing him to come with him in their already rare trips from the mountain fortress. Without any siblings or even any wards to pass the time with, Petyr grew up as an awkward and secluded child and this carried on into adulthood. His vassals would rarely see him or hear from him beyond the occasional letter or missive and when he did meet with his vassals he was usually silent, allowing others to carry the conversation and only occasionally adding his opinions. He inherited the Vale when his father died, when Petyr was only 18.

He is a small and slender man with balding black hair and a carefully trimmed beard.

Lady Talea Arryn (Age 36): Born in Braavos, she met Petyr early in his reign as Lord of the Vale while he was on a business trip to Braavos. She was the daughter of one of the wealthy nobles that Petyr was doing business with and she quickly became interested in the mysterious exotic man. Petyr was invited by her father to a party at his mansion and Petyr graciously accepted. At the event, he and Talea spent the night dancing and talking and a romance grew. By the time he left Braavos two weeks later, they were married, much to her father's annoyance.

She soon found that life in Westeros was not as she imagined. Her first shock was arriving back to the Vale and discovering that it was a mountainous and cold country and when Petyr proudly pointed to the Eyrie and told her that was their new home she almost fainted. She soon grew angry with Petyr as he seemed content to live a quiet life sequestered away in the Eyrie. This was not the glamorous lifestyle she had imagined during the wedding, where she got to live the life as a socialite in the king's court as Petyr stood beside the king as his right hand man. Instead she had wasted away her beauty with an unambitious husband in what she considered a hellhole with eight children running about.

She is a stunning woman with azure eyes and golden hair.

Amerei Arryn (Age 20): The first born daughter of Petyr and Talea. She is known as the "Star of Arryn" due to her radiant beauty. She looks strikingly like her mother although those who remember when Talea first came to the Vale say that she looks even more alluring than her. She is a snooty and haughty young woman, looking down on those who she sees as her lessers, including other nobles. She is a "party girl" who loves dances, tourneys, wine, and men. She is also willful and headstrong. Her father has tried to keep her locked away to solve her behavior, but this has only emboldened her. She doesn't get along with most of her siblings, only really connecting with Samwell and Robin

Donnel Arryn (Age 18): The heir to the Vale. Donnel has been raised since his birth to rule. His father personally tutored him in stewardship and he spent many hours with the Master of Arms and the septa honing both his sword arm and his speechcraft. He has always been drawn to stories about ancient knights and idolizes them, always trying to act noble, brave, and chivalrous. He's well liked by most of his siblings although he can't stand his older sister Amerei.

He is muscular and tall with strawberry blonde hair and brown eyes. While not especially tall, he towers over his father. He also bears a scar running down his right cheek which he got while fighting mountain clansmen.

Jeyne Arryn (Age 16): The second born daughter. Still considered very beautiful although not as beautiful as her older sister. She takes after her father quite a bit. She is a quiet demure girl who always has her head in books. She has been the peacekeeper for her many siblings for years and that combined with her wealth of knowledge make her quite the diplomat. She is polite and well spoken and more than a few young courtiers have fallen for her honeyed words.

She has her mother's azure eyes and her father's black hair. She is short like her father.

Samwell and Gerold Arryn (Age 14): The two are fraternal twins. Gerold lives for fighting and spends all the time he can sparring. He dreams of being the best fighter in Westeros. Samwell lives for wine, women, and fame. He often sits and plays on his lute and writes poetry. While a coward at heart, he wants to be a famous warrior and he wants to be the one who writes all the songs about himself and plays them at the king's court with a hundred women fawning over him. The two twins are fast friends and get along great with each other. Samwell is close to Amerei, while Gerold looks up to Donnel.

They both have black hair and brown eyes. Gerold is already noticeably taller than Samwell and some say he might end up being the tallest man in the Vale.

Serra Arryn (Age 12): Accused of being a bastard and occasionally called Serra Stone by the enemies of the Arryns or at least those who dislike Lady Talea. She is supposedly the daughter of Talea and a wealthy Braavosi merchant that she became especially close to as he stayed in the Eyrie. Petyr rejects these claims and refuses to allow others to talk about them in his presence. Amerei looks down on her, choosing to believe that Serra really is a bastard and Samwell follows suit. She gets along with the rest of her siblings, but is especially close to Triston, who she often played with growing up.

She has green eyes and brown hair, unlike her other siblings.

Triston Arryn (Age 11):
Triston is fiercely protective of his older sister, Serra. The two spent most of their childhoods together playing in the halls of the Eyrie. Unlike his other brothers, Triston enjoys learning about stewardship and willingly spends much of his time with his father learning about it. He gets along with Serra and dislikes Samwell and Amerei.

Triston has black hair and brown eyes.

Robin Arryn (Age 5):
The youngest of the eight children and the fifth born son. It is unlikely that he will ever rule and this has led Petyr to consider sending him to the Citadel to study when he's older. Currently Robin is a playful child who enjoys pretending to be Aegon the Conqueror or other famous heroes. He gets along with all of his siblings, since most of them dote on him due to how young he is.

Robin has blonde hair and brown eyes.

Lord Ryman Frey (Age 51) Schemer - Lord Ryman has been the lord of the Twins and the head of House Frey for nearly 30 years and has not retained his immense power and prestige over his house and the surrounding bannermen of House Tully. Ryman is obsessed with increasing the power of the Freys as the first among equals of Tully vassals and also with his many pet projects and schemes, like plotting the assassination of his many petty rivals.

Lady Maria Frey (Age 42) formerly Lady Maria Mooton - Lady Maria is the loyal wife of the Lord Frey. She is quiet, dutiful, and bent on the education of her daughters so they may marry the young Tully, Arryn, Lannister, and maybe even Targaryen men.

Stevron Frey (Age 24) - Stevron is the eldest son of Ryman and Maria Frey. He is a money-obsessed, thrifty, and lustful man who has already fathered two bastards.

Ser Walder Frey (Age 21) - Ser Walder is a knight and warrior of great renown in the Riverlands. He is often tasked with commanding parts of the Frey forces when they are called and is lined up to become the Master of Arms for Stevron Frey when he becomes Lord. However, Walder's real dream is to become a Kingsgaurd.

Catelyn Frey (Age 16) - Catelyn Frey is the eldest daughter of the Freys and she has been groomed for marriage all her life. Her father wishes to marry her off to a Tully to ensure his rise to dominance under the Tully overlordship.

Eddin Frey (Age 14) - A bookish young lad who is often being hounded to train his fighting skills by his older brother Walder. Eddin tends to hide in the Twin's Library and try to avoid any and all contact with his family.

Alora Frey (Age 13) - A much more rambunctious young lady than her older sister, Alora is often found climbing trees and playing games with those damned stableboys even after all of those disciplinary sessions for disobeying her father and mother's commands. Lady Maria has made it her mission to break Alora's free spirit within these next three years in order to groom her to marry some young Targaryen.

House Tully of Riverrun

edmure_tully_ffg3_3523.jpg

Lord Paramount Ryman Tully
Age: 28
Trait: Tactician
Biography: The oldest son of Lord Elmo Tully, Ryman became the Lord of Riverrun at the young age of 18. His father, known for his reign of 20 years, died at the age of 50 after a severe cough. Lord Ryman's early years as the Lord Paramount were rife with anger and feuding, as the older Riverland lords disrespected Ryman due to his youthful enthusiasm. Lord Ryman challenged the Lords Bracken and Piper, his two most vocal opponents, to a joust at Riverrun to settle their qualms with the young lord. Ryman easily unseated the two older lords, and thus the Riverlands were stable. During this time, Lord Ryman was married to Lady Jeyne Blackwood, cementing an alliance between the two Houses. After this initial period of doubt, Ryman has proved to be a capable commander of men, as well as a competent lord. The prosperity and wealth of the Riverlands is paramount to Ryman, and he will stop at no cost to defend it.

Ser Petyr Tully
Age: 55
Biography: Petyr Tully is the third son of Kermit Tully and the uncle to Lord Ryman. Petyr is a kind man who loves his family with a passion, as evident by his devotion to Ryman and House Tully. After tutoring Ryman whilst he was a child, Petyr has grown to be an influential character within the Court of Riverrun. After Lord Elmo died, Petyr was made Castellan of Riverrun, and it is a position that he has held for the past 20 years. He is married to Catelyn Piper, the daughter of a minor member of House Piper. He has two sons by Lady Piper, Edmyn (30), and Hoster (28).

Lady Jeyne Tully (Blackwood)
Age: 21
Biography: The only daughter of Lord Blackwood, Jeyne Tully is a powerful figure within the castle of Riverrun. She is fiercely independent, however she still loves her husband dearly. Her only child is Patrek Tully.

Patrek Tully
Age: 10
Biography: The eldest child of Lord Ryman and heir to the Lordship of Riverrun, Patrek Tully is nothing like his father. Whilst his father is off jousting and dueling, Ser Petyr and Patrek discuss history and read. However, Patrek has proven to be a talented archer, but his horsemanship and swordsmanship are less than satisfactory for his father's taste. Despite this though, Lord Ryman is still proud of his young son.

Ser Edmyn Tully
Age: 30
Biography: Edmyn Tully is the eldest child of Ser Petyr, and the nephew of Ryman Tully. He hates his father with a passion, and he resents the proud, pro-Riverlands state of mind that his father, brother, and Lord Ryman has. The fact that his lord his younger than him has lead to Edmyn being very bitter, and he is watched very carefully by Lady Bethany.

Hoster Tully
Age: 28
Biography: The youngest child of Petyr Tully, Hoster Tully is one of the most intelligent men in House Tully. Content with the fact that he will never gain a title or lands, Hoster Tully left Riverrun at the age of 18 to train as a Maester in the Citadel. He is almost done with his training, as he only needs two more links to complete his Maester's chain. He is good friends with Lord Ryman.

I am currently working on starting stats for the game, and will keep you guys updated, and asking for opinions on IRC. Join the discussion here, #ASOIAF_Main.

As the details of the game is finalized over the course of the next couple days, it is a good idea to brush up on ASOIAF lore of the time period. We are playing in 171 AC, so the following wiki pages will be useful background knowledge to know...

Dance of Dragons 129-131 AC
Reign of Aegon III 131-157 AC
Reign of Daeron I 157 - 161 AC ~ The Conquest of Dorne
Reign of Baelor I 161 - 171 AC

Game Sign ups are now CLOSED
The final vacancy in Dorne is reserved for Jako if he wants it.

I'm thinking of adding a realm perk to each paramouncy to better reflect the variations between the lands. I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

The North: Defensive bonus roll. Able to trap invading armies in the Neck, the North will gain a bonus combat roll against all outsiders when fighting in the North.
The Riverlands: The Trident yields bountiful trade during times of peace, and is a busy causeway for trading vessels up and down the great river, giving a boost in income.
The Vale: The mountainous terrain yields ample ambush positions for Valemen defenders, yielding a bonus combat roll against invading armies.
Crownlands: Easy access to the bustling markets of King's Landing, and the well trafficked Blackwater Rush, gives lords of the Crownlands a boost in income during times of peace.
Westerlands: Among the richest houses in the Seven Kingdoms. Their gold mines make them the envy of the continent.
The Iron Isles: Some of the finest shipwrights and a reaver culture give them a near unparalleled mastery of the sea. Bonus combat roll for all naval battles.
The Reach: The breadbasket of Westeros, The Reach armies double the size of most paramouncies. Bonus success chance at administrative orders.
Dorne: Masters of their terrain, the Dornish excel at fighting in their homeland. Bonus defense roll against all invading armies.
Stormlands: The hardiest warriors of the Seven Kingdoms. Stormlanders have a bonus combat roll when battling their enemies.

House Stark
250px-House_Stark.PNG

Jonnel Stark, Lord of Winterfell, Lord Paramount and Warden of the North
Age: 23 (Born 148 AC)
Trait: Diplomat
Bio: Eldest surviving son of Creagan Stark by his third wife, Lynara Stark. Married to his half niece, Sansa Stark. He succeeded his father, "The Old Man of the North", following his death in 162 AC as the age of 73. At the age of 14, many feared he would not be ready to lead, but he soon proved those who doubted him to be wrong. He ably handled minor disputes between his vassals and his siblings. Edric and Barthogan in particular developed a rivalry with each other, and only Jonnel's efforts have kept them from coming to blows multiple times. In the south, even at the height of Baelor's zealotry, he was kept from directing his efforts northward by careful letters from Jonnel, at least that's what Jonnel claims. Jonnel's marriage to his half brother's daughter raised some eyebrows, but Jonnel has deflected these concerns. Though their marriage has yet to produce any children, Jonnel is confident he'll produce an heir soon. Yet rumours spread that the Lord of Winterfell grows ill, and some fear that if Jonnel passes, then Edric and Barthogan would be at each other's throats for the North.

Sansa Stark
Age: 19 (Born 152 AC)
Bio: Youngest daughter of Rickon Stark, late son of Creagan Stark by his first wife, Arra Norrey. Married to her uncle Jonnel Stark. A reserved girl, she has dutifully gone along with the wishes of her lord and uncle, though her failure to produce an heir so far has disappointed him.

Edric Stark
Age: 21 (Born 150 AC)
Bio: Second eldest surviving son of Creagan Stark by his third wife, Lynara Stark. Married to his half-niece, Serena Stark. Currently the heir to Winterfell, and if half the rumors spread about him are true, he'd like it to stay that way. Of course, publically he has only the warmest and noblest of wishes for his elder brother and lord. Few truly believe the rumours spread about him, that he's a heartless opportunist who craves power, but his brutish brother Barthogan wholeheartedly believes them and has repeatedly made it clear he would like nothing more than to beat Edric into a "proper mindset". Only the efforts of Jonnel have kept the brothers from actual blows. None of this is helped by the mildly suspicious circumstances by which Serena's first husband, Jon Umber, died. If the rumours that Jonnel grows ill are true, then doubtlessly there are those who will blame Edric.

Serena Stark
Age: 21 (Born 150 AC)
Bio: Eldest daughter of Rickon Stark, late son of Creagan Stark by his first wife, Arra Norrey. She had been previously wed to Jon Umber, but he died within days before they could have issue. The swiftness of his death after his hearty appearance at their wedding has led some to suspect that he was poisoned. Serena is a cheerful young woman who believes the best in everyone, so she vigorously defends her uncle and current husband from any accusations made in her presence. While she has yet to bear any children for her husband, she is confident they will come soon.

Lyanna Stark
Age:19 (Born 152 AC)
Bio: Only daughter of Creagan Stark by his third wife, Lynara Stark. A headstrong girl, she has resisted efforts by her brothers to marry her off to minor lordlings. She has no desire to end up like her half sisters, separated from Winterfell and all but forgotten by the world at large. At her own insistence she has been well trained on horseback riding, and even has some experience with a blade, much to her lord brother's dismay. She refuses to marry anyone who either won't come to Winterfell to live or has an impressive court of their own, effectively meaning a Lord Paramount of the south. These demands are intractable in the eyes of Jonnel, and others, yet he has been unable to convince her to yield to lesser partners, and he has been unwilling to force her into a marriage. Her other brothers may not share this unwillingness though...

Barthogan Stark
Age: 18 (Born 153 AC)
Bio: Third eldest surviving son of Creagan Stark by his third wife, Lynara Stark. A somewhat blunt man, Barth lacks the eloquence or cunning of his brothers, but his skill with a blade and on a horse are near unrivaled in the North, traits he inherited from his father, whose ability with a blade even in old age had impressed the likes of Aemon the Dragonknight. He has a ferocious dislike for his elder brother Edric, whose smug looks and honeyed tongue belie a ruthless opportunist who would stop at nothing to rule the North and beyond. At least that's what Barth thinks. If Jonnel dies while Edric is heir, Barth is sure to oppose the ascension of his elder brother. Barth wants nothing to do with the world outside the North, and he sees little reason to remain subservient to a distant king on a throne of broken blades with no dragons. The old ways are the best ways after all, and in the old days, the Starks bent to no master.

Brandon Stark
Age: 15 (Born 156 AC)
Bio: Youngest surviving son of Creagan Stark by his third wife, Lynara Stark. More reserved than his older brother, Brandon has been jokingly called the Maester of the family for his habit of reading books and scrolls, and studying the administration of the North. Brandon lacks the ambitions and high emotions of his siblings, instead being interested only in maintaining the well being of Winterfell and the Stark vassals. For after all, winter is coming.

Sarra Stark
Age: 38 (Born 133 AC)
Bio: Eldest daughter of Creagan Stark by his second wife Alysanne Blackwood. Married to Lord Laurence of House Hornwood. She has 4 children- Adam (18), Gryffin (16), Berena (13), and Alyssa (9). Adam is the heir to Hornwood.

Alys Stark
Age: 35 (Born 136 AC)
Bio: Second eldest daughter of Creagan Stark by his second wife Alysanne Blackwood. Married to Martyn of House Cassel. She has 3 children- Jory (17), Jon (14), and Beth (11).

Raya Stark
Age: 32 (Born 139 AC)
Bio: Third eldest daughter of Creagan Stark by his second wife Alysanne Blackwood. Married to Hallis of House Mollen. She has 5 children- Gregor (15), Elissa (14), Cedric (12), Erena (9), and Erik (6).

Mariah Stark
Age: 29 (Born 142 AC)
Bio: Youngest daughter of Creagan Stark by his second wife Alysanne Blackwood. Married to Beren of House Tallhart. She has 2 children- Duncan (13) and Eddara (9).

~ House Dayne ~
rEtNfMe.jpg

The daynes are a proud heritage, one that dates back thousands of years. They have influenced the Dornish region since the Dawn Ages, when the first Dayne came upon a meteor, a fallen star.. He raised the metal from this rock, and forged Dawn. Dawn is the truest sword in all of Westeros, the most powerful blade to have ever been forged, and its cut is one of legend. It mystifies the house and much of their fame falls onto this blade, only the most noble and true warriors can bear the sword, being given the title of Sword of the Morning. The Daynes have a long history, and it all relies on Starfall, their stalwart castle. It is the place where the sword was found, and deep in the bellows, in the foundation is a small cavern is where it is stored, in the very heart of the castle. Opposite, is the lord's study, where he surveys his entire realm. This place is inside the Palestone Sword, and is covered in marble. It guards the entire western arm of Dorne, and anyone who know anything of Dorne respects this marvel of fortification.

FMBr1nP.jpg

Lord Vernan Dayne, of Starfall
Age: 41(Diplomat)
Biography: Vernan is not the Sword in the Morning, but he is the caretaker, a status to the Lord of Starfall. He keeps watches over Dawn and resides by the ancient code of his forebears, to pass the sword down to any Dayne who proves worthy. What constitutes as worthy is only known to those who are Head of the house, and is a tightly held secret not ever revealed to even the other family members, in suspicion of foul play and tradition. Thus only who wield the sword, and who keep the keys of Starfall, may ever know. Rumors are always spread of Daynes that do not hold the sword. Do they vie for it? Are they envious? Vernan is a straight man, who keeps most of his emotions to himself, and does what his realm needs of him. He thinks nothing of these words spoken behind him, and keeps to his own code, to uphold the honor of his house. He usually does not like speaking outwards, even though he has the honor of many sworn swords, he knows each man has a duty. Has a life. He takes great caution to not throw abandon to the wind.

Eyan 'Mavrock' Dayne
Age: 26(Tactician)
Biography: Eyan was once a stary-eyed boy, with dark hair and a smooth voice. He dreamed of the stars, of the ancient legends of his family. This was when he was just a boy however, and he soon fastened to the sword, perhaps some part of him wanted to be the sword in the morning, as all boys in Dorne wish(none moreso than the Daynes themselves). It quickly became clear to him that his life was not so destined, he fancied a Lady of Blackmont, his father urged against it but his passions made his young heart bequeath her hand. Things are not so simple in Dorne however, a his rival from house Fowler would have it another way. The Quick Hawk and a young Eyan battled and dueled over the entire tourney league of northern Dorne. They each claimed her, they each loved her. His father was embroiled with the nightmare this drama caused at court, and as all romantic tales go, he forbid his son from seeing her again. Luck would have it that he escaped the castle, riding to Yronwood, and defeating the blue fiend once and for all. He earned the cherish of many, and the love of his sweetheart, but from the scorn of his father he was brushed aside. Vernan was not a man you crossed, even from a son, and he was banished from the realm for the time being. Forever now known as the Mavrock for his shame, he travels amongst the Second Sons(who took pity on his tale and declared that he was now a Second Son himself.)

aIwj2Qa.jpg

Jaremy Dayne
Age: 20(tactician)
Biography: Pale blonde hair, fair of face, and a charming smile makes Jaremy every bit of Dayne as he should be. Ever since Eyan disgraced himself(Jaremy being barely a man at the time) he has been the 'first son' as it were, although his father has yet still announced him as his official heir.. Jaremy enjoys every bit of the privileges of one. No seat is reserved for his brother at festivals, Jaremy sits right there with the lords, as all heirs do. He speaks of warfare and laws, of diplomacy, and even is a charming catch to those Lords who wish a powerful ally with his father. What could be wrong with his life? He acts the chivalrous lordling, but Dawn is always on his mind. To claim it would be his greatest achievement, so he is always out of the Castle, doing feat of this, or challenge of that. Every lord in Dorne knows of Jaremy, but does every smallfolk? A name he wants, a legend he wishes. His skills have been honed, but he still has much to learn if he truly wants to make his mark on Westeros.

El0foXV.jpg

Elise Dayne
Age:17(schemer)
Biography: Every girl is daddy's little girl, aren't they? Well Elise wished for a mother since her perilous departure(into the underworld) when she was but a girl. Her father is distant and away, having already planned her Marriage since she was but fourteen. She knows what is expected of her, but that does not make her pine for it. How can a girl be expected to wed a man she does not know, to carry his children, to become matriach for their family, and leave her own? Men have it so straight, women must travel the windy paths of the deserts to even find themselves! She understands why so many women in Dorne become Paramours, their own people, sleuth and cunning. She doesn't care for nobility, the peerage, knights.. She wants her own life, but that wouldn't do, would it? She plays the lady now, but she wonders what she could do to surprise her father, to make her own journey.

Ser Darreth Dayne, Knight of the High Hermitage
Age: 34(steward)
Darreth is the Landed Knight of the Keep of High Hermitage. He is not wildly liked, or rather even known. Just another bloke with a castle! He knows his place, and his cousins in Starfall are close to his heart, but far from his mind, often engaging in various projects and parlays with the knights of his realm. Dorne is always changing, always shifting. A lord must have a tight hold and a strong nose to sniff out everything in his lands, and that is exactly what Darreth tries to achieve, some may ask its all for naught. One man cannot see all, cannot do all. Best to let things go as they naturally do, but he refuses that excuse. He does what he can, because he can. Not one to back down to a challenge, he has a great talent, but no exposure. What becomes of those that do not cry? They die.

e2jGHbp.jpg

High Hermitage is a place of Scholars, often looked at as a fortified parish. Many come to seek knowledge, and to become one with themselves away from all the noise. It has much to offer, to those looking, perhaps secrets, perhaps treasures? No one ever truly knows, do they?

Lord Jacelyn Rosby
Age: 57
Trait: Diplomat
Jacelyn is the middle brother to the deceased Lord Adrian Rosby, who was murdered by Rhaenyra Targaryen, mother of the current king, during the Fall of King's Landing in the Dance of Dragons. That was when Jacelyn was just 17 years old, and it was a traumatising experience to lose his father in such a way. The Lordship of Rosby passed to Jacelyn's older brother, Rorge, who started drinking to soothe his misery. After over a decade of this misrule, with Rorge having no legitimate children to inherit for him, the throne passed to Jacelyn. Convinced to stay on the straight and narrow, he had turned closer to the Faith and paid much closer attention to his family's well-being. No Rosby should be left to suffer like his brother, or be murdered like his father. Lord Rosby has never been a very physical man, and prefers discussion and contemplation to wildly rushing forward into the unknown. This has gained him the respect of several of his lords and Septons, especially after the troublesome reign of his elder brother. Married to Malora Hogg, they have two sons.

Ser Bronn Rosby
Age: 36
Oldest son of Jacelyn Rosby, who received the most attention from his father. He was allowed to meet lords and ladies in the Crownlands, visiting King's Landing repeated times, he is a friendly and humorous man. Easily able to make friends, but he has also been taught to respect the many virtues of the Faith. This has given him a charitable nature, and he often gives away money and other assistance to those of his friends who are in need without much considering if he can really afford this generosity. Still, being generous has never made any enemies. Knighted by one of the house knights, even though he is not the greatest fighter he has still learned the basics that a knight must know and he prefers to fight with his lance on horse, as that is the most chivalrous way to fight. Married to a Rollingford woman, they have four children.

Julian Rosby
Age: 32
Julian is the younger son of Lord Rosby, and he was always outdone by his older brother in social matters. Lord Rosby attempted to give Julian other activites to excel in and gave him several books to read, such as the Seven-Pointed Star and other good and moral reading. Julian did read this, but his eventual conclusions were perhaps not what his father was expecting or wanting. The more Julian read, the more inconsistencies he saw and the more cynical he grew of the Faith. While he accepted that many of the ideas may be good, it seemed to him like the Faith was misused or corrupted in many circumstances. Lord Rosby was not pleased, but was eager to prove his son wrong. When Julian suggested that he should become a Maester, his father refused to accept this and quickly married him away to a Cargyll woman and they now have a single child.

Wallace Rosby
Age: 55
Younger brother of Jacelyn Rosby, Wallace has been the steward of Castle Rosby for as long as Jacelyn has been Lord. He has done his job well and avoided expressing any opinions on the Faith, staying neutral on the issue. He handles trade to Castle Rosby and ensures that the castle is well-stocked with supplies. He has two daughters.

New Mechanics
The vocal majority have suggested a reliance on IC and tactics and my own judgement over chance and dice rolls. Such methods are fairly new to me from a GMing standpoint, but I have played such games in the past and welcome a new system so long as you all understand one important rule. My word is law and all updates are final. If you feel I have overlooked something or you're not treated fairly, speak to me in private and we discuss the possibility of compensation in a future update. In order to determine battle outcomes, I will be looking at the following factors;
Army size and unit composition
Terrain
Tactics
Culture ie, Stormlanders may be given a victory in case of a close outcome

As far as tactics are concerned, this does not mean I need a novel sized description of a campaign, with every possible variable explored in detail. Be concise as possible, explaining your tactics, a possible back up plan, and any factors you think may work to your advantage.

We are scrapping the trait system. Some find it limiting, so therefore we will allow for greater freedom by letting your bios and orders speak for themselves. You come from a martial background and are throwing yourself into war, well, we don't need a trait mechanic to tell us you are a tactician. You ascended to power through the shadows and wage plots against your rivals, a schemer trait therefore is no longer necessary. I advise bringing in backers, either players or NPC allies, and being patient when committing a plot. Spend time learning the layout of a rival's castle, turn members of his court, acquire poison from lys, over the course of several turns before assassinating a target if you want to succeed. Forge alliances with natural friends and allies. If you want to turn an NPC against his liege, you better have a good reason for him to take on such a risk.

I'll still be dipping into the realm of chance for somethings, but for the majority of the game, I shall now be relying on my own judgement.

Faith of the Seven
During the pious reign of Baelor the Blessed, the king took measures to strengthen the Faith of the Seven. Baelor began construction of a great sept upon Visenya's Hill, and the High Septon moved the Faith's capital into King's Landing, giving their coffers access to the deep pockets of the richest and most populous city in the Seven Kingdoms. As Baelor became more erratic, he instilled himself into Faith affairs by choosing a new High Septon when the former one, known as the Old One, passed.

Baelor claimed that the Seven came to him in a vision, and spoke to him through a simpleton stonemason. Relunctuntly the Most Devout went along with the king's assertion. The Faith prospered immensely from the close relationship with Baelor, and were willing to make concessions in return for the boons they received. The Stonemason died shortly after his rise from a sudden illness, and as the Most Devout pondered a successor, once again Baelor inserted himself in their affairs.

The king insisted that a lowly street urchin, a lad of only eight, was a diviner of the Seven's will, and the performer of miracles. By this time the great sept was beginning to take shape, and the Most Devout's agents within the king's court had incredible influence in shaping royal affairs, so once again they agreed to Baelor's choice in High Septon. The supposed miracle worker could do little, however, in Baelor's fateful last hours.

Rise of the Righteous One
In the days after King Baelor's demise, turmoil surrounded Visenya's Hill as an angry mob demanded justice for Baelor, claiming the Child was a false prophet. Viserys dispatched the Gold Cloaks to bring order, but the mob could not be quelled, and many died or were arrested. Behind the protection of the Gold Cloaks, the Most Devout convened to decide upon a successor and the Child's fate. One among the most devout stood apart from the rest. Popular among his peers, the words of Septon Timon held great weight among the Most Devout. It was declared, as the Gold Cloaks and peasant mobs clashed upon Visenya's Hill, that the Child was indeed a false prophet, his lying tongue was removed, and he was cast from the Faith, condemned to return to his life as a lowly street urchin.

Soon after the Gold Cloaks restored order, the Most Devout declared Septon Timon the new High Septon, and for his role in casting out the Child, he was dubbed the Righteous One. It was whispered that Timon may have orchestrated the mob, engineering the downfall of the Child in order to facilitate his rise to the Faith's highest station. Throughout Timon's tenure among the Most Devout, he resented Baelor's interference in their affairs, but had little choice to tolerate given the support the Faith received. Now, at the end of Baelor's reign, the Faith is the strongest it has been since the days of Maegor the Cruel and the Faith Militant.

The Righteous One now prepares for the coronation of King Viserys.

((The Righteous One and a rivalry between the king and the high septon is largely inspired by Maxwell's handling of the Faith in A Scream of Souls, in which he turned the setting to his favour to craft an entertaining IC in which the threat of war always seemed to linger.))

House Farwynd
"The End is the Beginning"

The Farwynds are an old, noble house. But they have always been strange, and the other Ironborn have always looked at them as not quite right. They have two holdings, Sealskin Point on the northwest tip of Great Wyk and Lonely Light. Sealskin Point is a squat stone tower overlooking a modest community of fishers and shepherds. Lonely Light is eight days sail away to the west, the westernmost edge of the known world. The two branches of the family are tied together by their odd ways, westward-looking attitude, and periodic intermarriage.

The Sealskin Point line is the elder, more important one. They can call on a fair number of ships and warriors. Even so they are not among the first rank of Ironborn nobles. They answer the call when the Greyjoys call their banners, and show enough zeal not to disgrace themselves. Old as the family is, it has produced few memorable warriors and no Farwynds ever sat the seasoned chair and wore the driftwood crown.

It is in seamanship that Farwynds excell. Even among the Ironborn they are superb sailors, and however strange they may be there is nobody better to guide a ship through a raging storm far from the safety of land.

This is most true of the Lonely Light line. They live amidst a miniature version of the iron islands. 13 bare rocks 8 days from Sealskin Point are their domain. Lonely Light itself has the only town. A few others support one or two families of fishermen or goatherds. Most of their islands are uninhabited except for seals and seabirds.

Both branches of the family are rumored to have unnatural abilities. One story has it they lay with seals and birth merlings. Another is that they are wargs, adopting the bodies of seals, walruses and spotted whales.

They certainly have a mystical bent. It often seems that Farwynds are not quite looking at the same world as other men. They have a persistent dream, across generations, of a soft, warm, green country beyond the sunset. Through the centuries many Farwynds have sailed west in search of this paradise. If any found it, they have not come back to tell the tale.

The Sealskin Point Farwynds
Lord Rodrick Farwynd, 43
A fairly grounded man (for a Farwynd) Lord Rodrick sailed with raiders attacking the treacherous coast of Dorne during his younger days. A competent, but unexceptional, fighter, he has neither disgraced nor distinguished himself in battle. He is respected more than feared by the smallfolk near Sealskin Point, and is honored by his sworn captains for his fairness, open handed nature and natural authority.

Looks good to me. Unsure why Dorne doesn't have warships though, but I guess because they were never mentioned.

Will finish my sheet in the game thread.

Also @iisbroke and @Jako, any interest in having the Prince of Dorne as a brother/son in law?
