The point is it shouldn't have to be modded in
Buy SoI and you don't have to. This whole argument of what should and shouldn't be is pointless. I might as well start a thread about how China should be in the game and how Chinese people not being playable makes Paradox into a force of evil greater than anything humanity has ever witnessed to date.

I want an explanation as to why you and all the other Paradrones in this thread vehemently defend DLCdox and what they did with the SoI DLC. As I said before, would it have been okay if in EUIII they removed the ability to play Ming and Japan without modding it before they released Divine Wind?

Sorry, I stopped reading at the bolded.

...Okay, I'm joking, I read the entire thing :) . But joking aside, yes, I do believe that, if you feel a significant portion of the game is not represented in a state adequate for appropriate or enjoyable play, that it is best to just disable it entirely. Playing in Japan without the Sengoku Jidai was analogous to playing Europe without the Reformation; the only reason it was acceptable in my opinion is because it was a fairly trivial part of the world, all things considered, and they had a lot of other really good features to implement ahead of DW.

An entire third of the map being badly represented would have been another thing entirely.

Can you blame me for being paranoid?

...Yes? Your maladaptive socialization deserves no particular special consideration from me. If you prefer to go through life seeing thieving hands around every corner, that is entirely your right... Just don't expect me to sympathize with the conclusions that you come to unless you have evidence to support them.

Free content =/= bug fixing, which is what patches do, they fix bugs.

...I don't get it. Are you saying that the lack of differentation between strong and weak claims (for one example) was a bug? Or are you saying that they shouldn't have added features in patches? Or?...

Are you complaining that you can't play as minor nations in the Total War series? How about playing in Gilneas in World of Warcraft before the Cataclysm expansion? Or playing as a common goblin in Magicka campaign? By your logic everything in the game should be playable no matter how content empty it is. And using EU3 as a precedent is completely meaningless. It is a different franchise with a different focus and mission statement. The fact that both EU3 and CK2 were made by Paradox is irrelevant. There is no clause or law anywhere that says that in Paradox games all nations have to be playable. Or would you expect to play as tertiary characters in a hypothetical Paradox point-and-click adventure game, regardless of it being a toted feature or not?

Yes that is my argument. Why not? The worst it could do is ADD PLAYABILITY.

I'm still going to complain about it because I have that right. I do not like the fact that Paradox is going the way of EA and Activision. I used to RESPECT Paradox, but not after this recent stuff with DLC, and the incredibly buggy releases of games across the board. I am, quite honestly, beginning to feel that they don't deserve my money. And I can assure you that others are beginning to feel the same way. I apologize if you Paradrones are fine with the fecal matter they're currently shoving down your throat, but I'm not.

Oh, so you straight up admit that you're flinging childish insults such as "stupid" around, now? Boy oh boy, this thread sure has gone places.

So tell me more you prefer the pay for patch option previously. but you dislike that they changed how you make muslims playable with out spending money?

Honestly? I would have rather waited another year for CK2 to come out so I didn't have to buy the rest of the game Piecemeal for ten dollars each. Soon enough we're going to have Pagan, Byzantine, Republic, and Theocracy $10 "expansion packs", and I don't like it one bit, no sir I do not.
You people don't seem to understand that paradox can't dedicate infinite time and money for your good pleasure, we're going back to the self-entitlement argument we had earlier. Since you're apparently so eager to bicker over 10$ then you can understand they don't want to waste thousands because of a minority of constantly discontent people.

No paradox isn't evil, but I don't want it's business model to resemble anything close to a dlc filled EA model.

We cross posted - so keep the personal insults out of it. People have tried to explain the muslim thing to you, which was something you complained about. Then you change to saying that it should have been included in the first place - which some of us agree with you about - but you attack us - brilliant.

Taking the high road? Being a decent person?

Calling someone a paradrone is ill form.

You seem to think I care about my pride, my morals, or my principals.

Indeed. What a shame that they focus on improving things one at a time then release them for us to play and have fun with! It's almost as if they want a better business model than what we had ten years ago!

It's a better model in which to make money, yes, but can you really say it doesn't upset you that they're doing this?

That is their RIGHT as a company. I may not like it either, but that's how businesses run! Don't buy PDox games if you don't like their business model.

I won't, from now on. If you want to keep eating the fecal matter Paradox keeps feeding you, that's up to you, but I'm done with it, myself. I understand it makes more money, but I don't see why you, the consumer, like it so much.

Ok.

Let's suppose that tomorrow PI produces an expansion for EU3 that removes the wastelands and put new nations there.

Will you say that they removed it from the early game just to sell an expansion later?

It would be helpful if the point you claim to be making didn't seem to change every other page. First you claimed that the DLC took away the feature to play as Muslims without modding, which it didn't because that feature wasn't even present before SoI. Then you claimed it took away the ability to play as Muslims even with modding, but it didn't take away that ability either. When people pointed out that you were wrong, you threw a hissy fit and called them "Paradrones".

Not sure if this has been mentioned, I don't really want to go through a 43 page thread to find out.

The main problem seems to be that the DLC was included in the patch, and the purchase of SoI just unlocks it. What should of happened is when and if you buy the DLC it downloads it then, not before. If this happened and you didn't own the DLC you could still convert and play as a converted Muslim without any of the new graphical and gameplay changes, but because the DLC was included in the patch this is impossible.

Since you're apparently so eager to bicker over 10$ then you can understand they don't want to waste thousands because of a minority of constantly discontent people.

You seem to think that we are, indeed, a minority. Maybe we are now. But if Paradox keeps feeding you fecal matter, we won't be for long. Maybe you can handle this level of moneygrabbing. But what about when they start charging $20 for Sword of Islam? And they release a new Sword of Islam every month? And you can't play with people who don't have this new "expansion"?

Yes, this model makes Paradox a lot of money. No, I don't have to like it.

So tell me more you prefer the pay for patch option previously. but you dislike that they changed how you make muslims playable with out spending money?

... what? This post made no sense.

Just don't expect me to sympathize with the conclusions that you come to unless you have evidence to support them.

But I do have evidence. Right here. In this very thread. On this very forum. Paradox is going the way of EA and Activision.

I agree entirely. SoI was 10 euros and then with those DLC you'd have to pay 50 euros just to play governments/religions that were already on the map. The game itself is 40 euros so I hope they're not expecting me to pay more for DLC than the game itself.

That's just it. I am not going around the argument, I am hammering right at it. DLC is not bad because it is DLC, it is a silly argument.

Except that I am not arguing about DLC itself, I'm arguing about parts of the game that should have been in the main game being locked so it can be turned into DLC.

DLC is bad because it's released often and for far more money than it's worth. I don't mind DLC. I mind DLC that is obviously an attempt at moneygrabbing.

I won't, from now on. If you want to keep eating the fecal matter Paradox keeps feeding you, that's up to you, but I'm done with it, myself. I understand it makes more money, but I don't see why you, the consumer, like it so much.
Equating PDox content with fecal matter is absurd. You don't like their business model. Ok, we understand that. You're angry, ok, we understand that. If you continue to post in the same vein, how can we take you seriously? You've said that you're not buying their games any more - that is your right. Perhaps PDox will be sorry to hear that, perhaps not. But please keep it above the belt here - we're all trying to be responsible, fair-minded people. (Trolls excepted - you trolls know who you are)

Ok.

Let's suppose that tomorrow PI produces an expansion for EU3 that removes the wastelands and put new nations there.

Will you say that they removed it from the early game just to sell an expansion later?

Of course.

They just put the content in the patch so that you could play with your muslim friends and AI even though you don't have it yourself. It is less annoying for people that don't have the expansion so no reason to complain.
