important thing about weapons trade though is there really should be a small downtime between when they are sent and when the reciever can use them. call it whatever you want but the US didnt say here is 50 destroyers and a day later they were all patrolling with uk crews :p

Very true. In another example, the Brewster Buffaloes sent to Finland were sent without instrumentation and I believe armament. A downtime seems quite appropriate.

True story. Was mortar ammo, though.

Very good idea! I agree.
Price should be negotiable and chosen as resources, supplies, money, provinces or diplomatic deals. Downtime should vary based on unit. It's easier getting a single BB ready for action, than a full panzer-division.
But, should the buyer get the full ORG for his new unit? I think not. Just 'cause you got the guns, don't mean you got the doctrines for it. So you can get good equipment but your units might still have crappy ORG ratings.

If there is a weapon's trade, then there has to be money too...

Well, money is now officially in the game, so there is hope yet. ;)

Well, sadly trade of equipment wasn´t included in HOI2, which is too bad since it is an important and accurate feature of the world market and diplomacy. You can see minor countries using weapons like Sherman or Allied aircraft, so where do they come from? Licensed production?

If it was implemented (which I really hope for), you should be able to trade equipment for money (obviously), own equipment (exchanging equipment would be interesting), resources, supplies, provinces, and blue prints. It could also be deals like: "I give you 2 battleships if you agree to join my alliance" or "Give me all your tanks or I crush you like a bug!". This means that minor but resource-rich countries like Persia would be able to sell some oil to buy some advanced equipment, which should be interesting. Of course, the relationship between the countries trading is important; you don´t want to arm your enemies.

If you sell a unit, all the manpower from the unit is regained, so the buying nation must of course still have manpower enough to build that division.

Hi everybody,

arms trade would improve this great game even further.

I would also like to have the possibility of giving away/trading techs with
non-allies. For strategical reasons France and U.K. might do this to prop up, say, Poland or Greece and that`s just one of many RL considerations.

Rgds, Oldtimer
