france is good because:
large population
large educated population
large educated accepted population
territorial integrity
no really large pops that can form a new nation on top of you
easy access to new colonies = prestige

mod austria hungaries population to be like the french and you'll see how good they'll do.

France gets all its colonies to states before 1870. So they basically industrialize africa. And over 50% of their industrial score seems to be luxury furniture factories they spam everywhere.

I usually tag switch to FRA and disband every lux furniture factory every 10 years.

hehe, a new suggestion for AHD, a button that tag-switchs into FRA and destroys her industry

I was wondering how my industrialised Russia couldn't keep up with them. When I civilised China I beat France's economy. In all my other games I didn't even come close. France usually is #1, and #2 depends on what happened in game and what country I am.

Easier to deal with France in this game than EU III to be honest.

The major problems indeed are how easy it is to industrialize in colonies and how stable France is, both politically and demographically.

The major problems indeed are how easy it is to industrialize in colonies and how stable France is, both politically and demographically.

In EU III, the correct response to France was just so easy:
- Play Brandenburg
- Form Prussia
- Form Germany
- Steamroll over France, rince and repeat. Then conquer the rest of the world

Solution to France in Vicky II is the same
- Play Prussia
- Unite Germany
- recruite 1 (in words: one) single soldier, give him a wet towel, let him smash the French Armies with it, grab their land.

Only stupid thing about France in paradox games is that you have to pick Brandenburg/Prussia to beat them, other than that, France is fine ;)

Why form Germany when you can:

- Start as Burgundy
- Conquer France with your vastly superior armies.
- Add all of France to the Holy Roman Empire and support Austria and the Teutonic Order in expanding to the east.
- Unite the Holy Roman Empire

I prefer to leave France alive, though. Getting rid of it almost always results in an ugly map.

Thinking about it. This situation was one of my concerns. And for the fellow who asked, I remember "uber Britian" Difference being that Britian actually WAS "uber" during the Victorian Age (hence the name "Victorian Age").
Britain in earlier patches was just as absurdly powerful as you claim France is now. They could pretty much take on the entire world by themselves and win.

You forgot the part where you reform France after you conquer it, so as to gain a ludicrous amount of cores, including the ones in North Italy I think.

France, while still strong is no longer such a powerhouse in A House Divided which is coming out soon

I'm really happy that Paradox is going to pursue a more customer friendly patching policy with Crusader Kings 2 because this attitude might be frustrating to consumers who only purchase the base game.

Will the 1.4 patch fix the balance issues wrt France? Will there be a 1.5 patch?

Whos is the guy constantly catering the game to the american audience and slowly translating the game to american english.

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE

Also, divine wind, sengoku... Did somebody say weeaboo? :D

And why does Sweden get so many decisions? And why do the Boer states already exist in 1836? And why does Chile always get millions of people? It must be that there's a ChilenoAfrikaneroSwedoAmericanoJapanesoFrancoAnglo conspiracy to make the game revolve around their nations.

After playing games as Released nations, like Canada or California Republic or Australia and then playing a game as France I noticed one MAJOR thing... France has a massive crap ton of events and historical things and what not that give it so much free stuff its crazy. For alot of nations its just hard to keep up when they dont get it for free

I don't agree about UK. Well, it's powerful, but there is a reason, why the era is called "Victorian". France, on the other hand, shouldn't be so powerful.
As of last 1.4b I played several campaigns and could not imagine Germany formed (if I wasn't helping them, a LOT). NGF - yes, but not Germany. I sometimes switch to GER and see that they have only 20 brigades while France have gazillion. And if mobilized - the situation is even worse.

Last game, I, as Japan firstly helped NGF to form Germany practically winning the war myself (I've already done that as Ireland), then France attacked, I saved germans, then again. I, also with my ally, Austria crushed France so the Germany could add wargoal to acquire French-Comte. But France still attacked! Again, I let Germany take another region (forgot its name, it was next to the West). But I bet, they will attack after 5 years again, because Germany still have some poor 20 brigades.
And it's not like Germany's having rough time, no revolutions, solid industry, military tech school... And this happening not the first time.

AI NGF/Germany, Y U SO LAME ?!

P.S. And btw, this France minus 2 regions crushed UK in "another classic British quest for Normandy" one-on-one.

I haven't played France ... but if this is true, then that kind of stinks. I would imagine it is the same for the UK ... getting a ton of events too.
