So as an example in my recent Burgundy-Lotharingia-Rome playthrough i basically have full buildings in all provinces (only recently conquered stuff got slots available) and i got all great works i care about at the highest rank, yeah theres stuff like brandenburg gate that i don't consider worth it but all the real great works i can upgrade are at max rank.

I almost got more cash then manpower it's insane (I recently came out of 3 wars but still). Even my lone CN i stole from brittany got full buildings in all provinces.

Try buying trade companies, building monuments or canals, and have fun paying down debt. Subsidize the enemies of your enemies with an absurd amount.

I like to find minors I like and subsidize them some 250 ducats a month to see what they do with them. Sometimes nothing, sometimes unite China. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would just quit at that point, nothing you spend your money on will have any affect on your game, so spending money is basically pointless except to watch your income get bigger.

Go over the soft limits. Force limit? Colonies? You can have as much as your money allows. And of course get level 5 advisors to be rich in powerpoints as well.

I mean true but from the 1700s or so money just lost all value.

Feels bad that money should just straight up not matter for 1/4 of the game. Stuff like this is why people drop campaigns in the 1600s since it just gets absurd lategame.

People drop campaigns in the 1600s because they have no meaningful opponents because the AI just plain isn't very good at the game.

If you had meaningful opponents, you'd have less money and more things to spend it on :)

Yeah my question would just be why keep playing at that point. It's one thing to keep playing to form Rome or MGE or whatever big lategame tag, or if it's a WC run, but otherwise why even bother continuing once you've formed the big map. If all you're doing is conquering stuff for borders you don't need to spend money, but might as well hire more armies more cannons to speed it up.

Rooting out corruption due to 200%+ overextension; constantly reinforcing 3 dozen combat stacks playing rebel whack a mole due to near permanent 200%+ overextension; Maginot Lines every time your borders expand to stop the AI from dancing around your empire so they can stand still somewhere for you to hit them, also they reclaim provinces occupied by rebels which helps reduce micro required for the whack a mole; overpaying your +5 advisors because you can't be bothered deleting buildings to make room for town halls; paying off the loans your subjects keep taking because for some reason they're constantly in a state of total war and the AI is not prepared to handle that; building some 400 heavy ships to ensure you always have the power to attrition grind any fleet to sawdust at any part of the globe.
