Very strange. US has so many P-x fans while only HoI and Victoria has USA, and those games are most hardcore. I won't think that USA gamers are all playing Halo and Call of Duty anymore.

I wonder if P-x tried to show EU or HoI to Koreans as a new national sport ;)

I know this is hard for people in other countries to understand, but there are so many middle class people in the US that many hobbies which are really common in some countries, are nearly as big here despite being a much smaller portion of the culture. I live in a pretty inconsequential state, and it is still more or less the size/population of Finland.

Chalk up another one for the US of A. As far as being surprised so many Americans play Grand Strategy games take this opinion into consideration, a gamer who has been gaming for 22 years. There is two major groups of gamers in the US, the Casual and the Hardcore, the Casual specialize in FPS, MMORPGs, and Facebook games. The Hardcore specialize in FPS, RTS/TBS, and RPGs. There is also another big group the Sports Fans, who only play Sport's Games, Racing games, and the occasional Big-budget FPS. So yes most American gamers do enjoy the First Person Shooter (But according to statistics so does the Entire Earth), but as you can see from the groups it's not the only genre we play.

And yes there is sub-factions (FPS Junkies, Armchair Generals, Oldschoolers, RPGers etc.) in every faction but there is too many to list.

I'm glad to see the US has so many sales, going almost entire(as far as I'm aware) by word of mouth.
Just wanted to come back and highlight this point - until I saw mention made of this over on the EU3 board maybe 2 weeks before release, I had heard zero advertising of any kind about Sengoku. Very few boards I read were talking about this game in the works at all, and likely the first many saw was when the big Paradox sale on Steam popped up this past week.

Sheffield, UK here.

As with HandofBane above, I had seen no advertising for this game, until it was released on steam.

Still getting to grips with the concepts in the game - its a little different from EU and the HOI games I usually play. Intrigued by it so far. Full respect to the devs and Paradox for continuing to make and release such intelligent games :).

I was wondering about this..

We had more preview articles on Sengoku in the press than any title in recent memory, but we couldn't seem to get traffic into the Sengoku forum..

If we make another new game, how would we find YOU and tell you about it?

For myself, you would have to have a bit more presence over on removed (huge base of EU3 fans over there, it's how I discovered that game in the first place, - be warned it may not be safe for work in most civilized societies) at least some discussion, though there is always the threat of being viewed as viral advertising which tends to get shot down and ignored quickly. Based on the people I know in real life and online, something like a preview trailer highlighted on Steam, or push the demo there more, since their store frontpage offers immediate links to both such items. I am not sure how other sites like gamersgate, direct2drive or gog run, but if they have similar frontpages, it might not be a bad idea to push advertising upcoming titles there as well.

I'd agree with HandofBane with regards to Steam - I am most likely to see stuff there. I must confess to having been away for a few weeks, and so not upto date in the forums here. But then I'd generally only look at HOI3 or the AARs - I wonder if you can make general announcements in different sections of the forum or would that annoy users?.
If there was something in PC Gamer (UK version) then I must have missed it - sorry! I realise now I also missed what you got into Rock Paper Shotgun - once again sorry!

If we make another new game, how would we find YOU and tell you about it?

Well, if it was me you wouldn't have to worry, cause I'm omnipresent on the forum. But generally...

I agree with HandofBane, there are a few forums which are basically feeder-forums for this board. I don't think you would need to be stealthy about it, just go ahead and post about the new games. The main other forum I go on has a large thread all about Paradox games, that's actually how I heard about EU3. You are probably thinking of larger audiences than that, but word-of-mouth from forums can work wonders (or be disastrous) IMO.

Of the non-Paradox titles I play regularly, I heard of pretty much every one through forums.
