I think it was to simulate the fact that, even in the face of constant Islamic threats, the survival of Miahpysitism. Originally I think it was made just for Ethiopia, considering that they've always survived in the face of overwhelming odds, just like how Ibadi was made specifically for Oman.

-yeah, i understand that, but all other religions have a bit more appropriate and logical bonuses ingame, those two on the other hand look more like fantasy material to me.

The orthodox at least have patriarch authority. The Miaphysites (Coptics) literally have nothing. No events, mechanics, just a fort defense bonus.

We have basically two countries from which to mine for historical events, compared to the dozen or so orthodox countries or the hundred plus Catholic countries. In my mod I'm pretty sure the Miaphysites have maybe five events, tops. It might well be less than that. And I've been scouring history books for them.

Catholic got some major love in Art of War. The Curia mechanics have been improved considerably, and as a small Catholic country, you can actually do useful things with your papal influence rather than just buying tickets in the Pope sweepstakes.

Not to mention, Catholicism has always been the most-developed religion in the game by far.

Honestly, I think that Coptic, the East Asian religions, and Protestantism are all in need of more love than Orthodoxy.
Orthodoxy has Patriarch Authority, which is at least a somewhat engaging mechanic that has player input and gives the religion flavor.
Shinto, Buddhism, Confucianism, Coptic, and even Protestant have no such thing. (And the first four have pretty awful base bonuses to boot.)

I can't really see many of the other Christians rushing to defeat the Orthodox, unless Byzantium took Rome, which should incense the whole western Catholic world.

If they do add features to Orthodox, please God let them be focused on Russia and not on an alternate-history Byzantium. Maybe even add some stuff for the Orthodox Church in the Ottoman Empire.

These things are all already in the game in the form of triggered modifiers, missions, and events. -_-

Orthodox is rather detailed and one of the strongest religions in the game, with a hidden bonus that religious basically give you a cb against everyone.
Hinduism got some good love I think in wealth of nation.
Right now the focus should be on the eastern religions, pagans and Miaphysites.
